19-inch Monitor recommendations

I am looking for a 19-inch monitor, and I am looking for some input. Right now the Dell deal on the Samsung 955df is nice for $167 after rebate. Though I do not think it will compare to the 17-inch Sony I have now. Sony monitors are just so clear. Also there is a Dell 19-inch with a trinitron tube for around $300+.

I would like to stay under $500, and I am in no rush.

Also does anyone know what the difference is between these two Sony models?

Gimme some ideas?

Trinitron tube based monitors are great. They're a little more pricey than their spherical tube counterparts, but it's worth it. I have a KDS 19" AV195TF (or something like that), and I really like it. I think CompUSA has a good price (sub $300) right now.

The 955df is looking really good at $167. 1280x1024 should be fine at 75hz.

I know about 3 people with this monitor that love it, though they do not run it over 1280x1024.

Tough to know what to do....

Ok, I ordered the 955df, the way I see it if it sucks I can still sell it for more than I bought it for.

I have read too many great reviews to not try it.

Don't be surprised when you first look at the screen that it looks curved rather than "flat." It's not a bad monitor but it doesn't even come close to the Sony.

My monitor now is curved so thats not a big issue. As long as it is clear and has good colors at 1280x1024 I should be happy. If not then I will sell it or somethind and get a Sony. I know a couple people with the Samsung and they all love it for the price.

$167 is just damn cheap...

I keep recommending this monitor, but don't get any responses. The LG 915FT + is great, better than my second recommendation of the Samsung 900NF, read some reviews to see why it doesn't have any similar competition.

Ok I have received my monitor and I will have to say. For $167 this monitor kicks ass. My only complaint is that really bright things can be a bit washed out, and there could be a tad more vibrance in the colors. Oh, ya and a bit more refresh rate would be nice at higher resolutions. Though I find 75hz at 1280x960 is just fine. I have no reason to run any higher as it would just make things too small.

Anyone looking for a good monitor at a great price should check this deal out. Also any color issues can be corrected in the nvida drivers if you can not get it just perfect on the monitors settings.
