Went to pick this up for a friend and they gave me a different one from the one pictured in their ad. I received the VS-190is while the model in the ad is the VS-190i. Seems they both have the same inventory number there 668-881. The 190is has a finer dot pitch.

Price is $229
- $50 rebate
- $20 OD gift card
- $10 off 50 coupon.

19" Professtional CRT

High-end graphics users, professional Web designers and gamers will appreciate the choice provided by the VS-190is. Larger than a 17-inch monitor, but more affordable than a 21-inch, it displays razor-sharp text, crystal-clear images and better-than-life color reproduction for applications ranging from DTP and CAD/CAM to advanced imaging and high-speed interactivity. The VS-190is is fully protected under KDS' exclusive KARES program, insuring peace of mind in addition to excellent performance.

If you look harder you may find OD has a 20% off coupon out there -- see the thread comparing LCD monitors for example. This will sweeten the deal. btw flat square tube doesn't really mean flat.

20% off thread

can we get kds online again? and select in-store pickup? if they have the same sku, might end up getting the round instead of the flat... tia

<< Larger than a 17-inch monitor, but more affordable than a 21-inch... >>

LOL... might as well say "more readable than a tiny 15 inch display, yet much more compact than an unnecessarily bulky 24 inch display." Or to make it more concise, "larger than a 13 inch monitor, yet cheaper than a plasma flat-panel."

Doesn't the 20% off only go with the .com? The price there was higher then the B&M when I checked and you can't use the $10 off $50.

There is a 20% off $50+ coupon at coupon-codes.net. The price of the VS-190i online is $229.

So, $229
-$46 [coupon]
-$50 [rebate]
=$133

I've seen this monitor, and it's nothing special, but that's an excellent price for a namebrand 19" monitor.

Just got over this deal at my local OD this evening.
First, I went online on OD's website thru a "hotdeals site" and tried to add the KDS VS-190i 19" monitor.
cart details:
Item number: 668881
Mfgr number: VS-190I/VS190IS
cost = $229
20% off $50 = $46
...printed the page then went to B&M. They gave me the 190i so i asked for the 190is (since it was on my printed page) but they said they don't have that monitor. Oh well...

$229
-$46 [coupon]
-$50 [rebate]
-$20 [money card]
-----------------------
$113

Guess i'll return it back tomorrow and just get the RAD 5

I saw in another tread a discussion on KDS. The impression I got was that it KDS USA was fine but instead it was another KDS entity that was in trouble. Sort of like the opposite of Onstream where the US branch went under but the European unit was fine and bought the assets of the US group.

Anyone else know about the KDS situation?

>" too bad its not one of their trinitron models "

Yeah, cause then you'd need to replace it twice within the 3 year warranty period, provided they're still in business, getting back yet another that dies after a year with "snapping" and "popping" sounds growing more frequent and louder then eventually causing the display to resize and then the unit stop turning on altogether.

Oh yeah, and you get back someone elses with all the handling gouges "sanded" down on the shell.

Yeah, gimme (yet another) one of those! 🙁

Don't get me wrong, I love the quality of the display of the KDS Trinitrons, but the quality is NOT there with 3 units doing the SAME thing, not good 🙁

KDS Trinitrons and CTX Shadow Mask are on my bad list.

Anybody care to share where the $50 rebate is? Is it from OD specifically?????
Out of all these posts nobody seems to give a hint.

Hey Dongkey,
I can't believe you went down to OD to get this great deal, went through all this trouble online doing research, lug it home......now your going to take it back. What are 12 yrs old? Your the reason half these places go out of business. Next time the rest of you guys have a hard time returning an item remember this instance. You make it hard for people to return items that have a legitimate bitch. You don't return stuff just for the hell of it. You have to much free time.....get a paper route.
Bluz

$50 is a lot to lose if kds doesn't come through w/ the rebate. they'll do anything they can to get outta it. i got screwed out of a $30 kds rebate about a yr ago. they didn't even send me a postcard, i found out by calling them. the bs reason they gave me was that the rebate was only good if i bought it from a certain store, which was not at all stated on the rebate form.

I don't think that will be an issue here since it is advertised in the Office Depot flyer. If this is a concern then I would save the ad for future reference. Also the rebate printed directly from the register at OD. Of course there is a risk with all rebates 😉

Sounds like a deal to me, wish I needed a monitor, but my friend will be thrilled since he was gonna buy a 17" from office Depot for the same price.

this is really stupid! it doesn't get any stupier than this!

This is one of the signs of the End of Times :Q People returning a $113 19" with a 3 year warranty because it was not a good deal.
