Ok, I know there are a lot of threads about this but.....

I'm looking for a flat 19" monitor that can do 1280x1024 @ 85hz. If it can do 75hz at 1600x1200 that would be great as well and all for around $200?

I'v thought about the Samsung SyncMaster 997DF but I cant find out what refresh rates it uses at what res.

ViewSonic G series. Samsung. Check the site but I think those two companies are king of CRT quality/price.

The refresh on the 997DF is 65 @ 1920x1440 and 76 @ 1600x1200. Good monitor if you can find it at $200. With shipping, it will rund you about $250 through Newegg.

Though not know for being the pinnacle of monitors, I've had a lot of success with MAG monitors. They're a budget brand but make good products. You can get the MAG 19" 996PF2B Pure Flat from Newegg for $199 including shipping. Their price on that monitor seems to go up every day. It was $155 on Monday and $161 yesterday. Today when I checked, it was $174. I wish I had bit at $155. :(

I like my 19" CRT from Daewoo (I'll check the exact model number tonight, I paid ~$200 for it at Microcenter with MIR ~1.5 years ago with a 3 year warranty) WAY better than my Samsung 955DF (I believe this is the model number) 19"CRT. The color of the Daewoo is like 3x more vibrant (maybe more) than the 955. Both monitors are ~same age and I've played around with gamma settings, etc. trying to improve the color on the Samsung, but it's just not as good. Maybe the newer models from Samsung have better color saturation. I don't think the video cards are the cause of the difference since I'm running an ATI 9800 Pro and a BFG nV FX5900 (both retail).

Whenever we game together, my kid and I "debate" who should use the PC with the Daewoo monitor:) Since I'm an old man with "poor" eyesight, I always win the debate;-)

Well I can get the 997DF from a local place but I want to know if it supports 1280x1024 @ 85hz. Even Samsung's website doesnt say.

Saw it at Best Buy in Austin (near 360 and 183) for $199

They have a crap vid signal and will not let you see it on a PC by its self - they said buy it and try it if you want to check it out.

nice looking silver/black

I am going for a high end 22 on ebay tho :p
