Best Buy has this monitor for 199.99. Look around you can get a good 19" Flatscreen CRT for right around $200. Viewsonic is about the best picture and next would be NEC, in that price range.

A year a go I got a Optiquest Q75 17" for $150
it had fairly high frame rate, high graphics resolutions, and dot .21 pitch (don't quote me, look it up for yourself.)
After looking around a everything, it was the best bang for the buck
and nothing came close to the .21 pitch in the price range. (clearity rules!)
I've used it for a year & haven't had any troubles with it, so I still like it.
So you might look to see what Optiquests are available & price them?

Edited: I think Optiquest is a ViewSonic.

This probably won't be the winner here, but here's a quickie link.

The first of those 2 is the way to go if you use high resolution/refresh rate.

Viewsonic P90F is another good one.

85kHz max horizontal sync absolutely sucks for a 19". It can't even do 1280x1024@85Hz and 1600x1200@70Hz would be pushing the limits of it (probably only get about 68Hz max at 16x12). The AOC you list is a bit better at 95kHz. The Viewsonic P90f and P95f both go to 110kHz, I use a P90f at work and it gives a very sharp image in 2048x1536, with 1920x1440 being as crisp as an LCD would be if they actually went that high.

The NEC FP912SB hurrikane mentions has the exact same specs as the P90f (wouldn't be surprised if they are the same screen in a different case).

I definitely recommend the NEC FP912SB, as someone said earlier. That is one VERY nice monitor. Another great one is the Viewsonic G90f.

Hear hear! ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTE!

Don't settle for less, get the NEC FP912SB. That Viewsonic Pf95+ crap is sh!t.

Sorry about blank post above. If you want an awesome monitor check out the Samsung 900NF, it is in a different league. The 955DF is nice, but you cant compare it to the 900NF. Price wise I am not sure what you would be looking at now.

Cheers to that! 85hz @ 1600x1200. Viewsonic has steadily decreased in quality over the years (but they're not bad).

I really enjoy my NEC -FE990. It has a good price/features ratio. I like the black too. I got mine at the dell home store. Use google to find one of thoe comparison shopper things... Otherwise Samsung makes great monitors as well.

Check out http://www.monitorsdirect.com/
I have purchased 3 Hitachi 21" superscan monitors...worth looking into. They have a model CM721F-511B ...19" right now with FREE ground shipping. Also you can do a very nice comparison to other models at there site. Pretty nice model for $259 with free shipping. I know I sound like a salesman but I really like Hitachi. I was in charge of buying our first Catscan Viewing Station Monitors. We had a large setup with over 15 brands...Local Dr's and Techs picked the Hitachi model. These were $3000 monitors but Hitachi won over many other top brands.

P90f and NEC FP912SB = 0.24mm grille
P95f = 0.25mm

Sony G420 = 0.24-0.25mm (variable)

All 3 of these have the exact same sync range and therefore resolution/refresh capacity, Sony is a lot more expensive also. Anyone know the rated bandwidth of the Sony? Couldn't find it on their site, NEC FP912SB is 290MHz, if the Sony is significantly higher that could make a difference in image clarity at super high resolution/refresh (although not too much, with the exception of Matrox popular video card RAMDACs are only meant to go to 300-350MHz).

I just spent about 30 minutes last night at best buy playing with the viewsonic a90f+ and the samsung 955df I went there expecting to get the samsung and came home with the viewsonic (although the stupid, arrogant best buy computer guy told me to get the samsung :p I hate those guys they think that everyone there is a moron, however if you ask them a real technical question about anything they just kind of stutter like they are retarded)

Anyway, my point being, The viewsonice just has a much nicer picture. It's sharper, brighter, and has better color saturation in my opinion. i'm using it right now, and I like it better than the 17inch trinitron it replaced.

I think the a90f+ is a pretty great monitor for its price. The samsung wasnt bad, but just didnt hold up in comparison.
