I went to a CC closing sale and people were going crazy like everything was 90% off, but everything was less than 20% off. This would be the place to go if you've don't know anything about getting a deal.

That was your experience, no guarantee the same situation will play out this friday. This would be the place to go if you are interested in seeing what they have, and maybe getting a deal, maybe not. Thanks for the heads up OP.

That would be a valid argument if this thread didn't exist and the same situation didn't play out 2 times for me. I went to 2 different closing stores and walked away with nothing. I will repeat it once again. If you know nothing about getting a deal definitely go check it out. You will save yourself tons of money.

Don't get too excited about any great deals.
Think display items 20-30%.
Go early but be ready to leave MT handed.

I still miss my old CC store which closed last year - no other CC in town.

CC got killed in the whole DIVX v DVD thing and they have been tailspinning ever since. Compusa may even merge with them. Are there Compusa's near any of these stores?
There is in Wichita, KS.
Who knows.

OP, where did you get this info?

You scared me there for a minute - but it's not the same list of stores. Maybe they're just going to make it an annual "fun" thing. 🙂

How many more years can they do it?
You know close 19 stores?

Hah..a little early for April Fools, I think. The info appears valid.... : 🙂

The info seems valid, as I was at the 38th St store in Indy yesterday picking up the $50 monitor. Does anybody local know if this CC used to be a store I can't remember the name of that closed several months ago? I went to that store closing- and yesterday the CC looked awfully familar. Bad location regardless.

I think that the CC's are doing alright here in MA. They just closed and re-opened the Framingham location in an all-new, and bigger, building. I agree that BB is certainly giving them a run for their money though.

Whenever a retailer starts generating negative reports, I start asking friends and relatives about their personal experiences with these companies. Then I consider my own recollections.

The usual excuses- mismanagement, flawed stategies, weak markets, etc., seem to be outweighed by that common tragic error:

Poor customer service.

Amen and good riddance to the worst offender.
1. Refusal to honor product replacement plan terms.
2. Changing rebate terms after the fact.
3. Changing prices on a special orders between order and delivery, refusing to give you your item unless you pay the new, higher price.

They've jacked with me too many times to deserve anything better than disdain. (but I'll freely give some gloating over their stores closing)

Does anyone know if CC is liquidating the store inventory themselves, or are they using one of those 3rd party liquidators? That could make all the difference in the world. If the ladder, expect to see %20 off this week %30 off next, and so on and so forth...

there's a cicruit city here bay area ca, that's shutting down, but another is opening up about 3 miles down the road. i guess we don't have many bestbuy's around here.
