I've always been totally amazed by the creativity and skill of the folks in the demo scene.

Edit: presumably, the demo that video was made from was 180k. The 7-minute video presented on youtube certainly was not.

i think they are saying the vid was rendered using a 3d engine and all the behaviors were scripted. the small file is the script?
