180.48 Nvidia Driver

i just had to join a forum and express how happy i am with what a driver can do...sorry if you've seen other threads like this (wouldnt be surprised actually)...lol

GPU = 8800GT 512mb 700/1000

so i installed the drivers awhile ago and im BLOWN away!
how the heck is stuff running this well without any hardware upgrade?!
before these drivers i thought CRYSIS was the biggest waste of money as having everything on medium and still playing farely sluggish was more than dissapointing...
let me tell you --- ^ ^
i now play with everything on HIGH besides shaders (medium) object detail (medium)
sound (medium) and ofcourse AA at 1680x1050 and its still way faster!
cant even believe i was thinking about the GTX 260 Black Edition and putting up with a bottleneck...

this driver has also noticeably increased other games i play...Gears Of War,Steam,FIFA 09 etc...

Still scratching my head with questions... 😀

You can try the beta 180.84 or 181.00 drivers both available if you wanted.

Typically if you don't update for a while you will see big differences when you finally do update.

Really? Are you sure you didn't have your Forceware settings slightly messed up - perhaps reinstalling the driver (and all settings being restored to default) fixed something?

Don't mean to be negative - just curious.

you may be right...around that time my "scrambble the settings" approach wasnt very knowledgeable (press the red button and hopefully the underground engineering facility is saved) ...but i couldnt ask for more with how things have worked out 🙂

Welcome to the forums.

Express away, spend cash on upgrades, steer clear heated debates, and in general, avoid being canon fodder.. 😀

....ill be having ALOT of heavy upgrading questions around mid-to late february at earliest or starting of summer,,

(that cheap P43 and E7300 look very tempting right now) 😕

i didn't notice any performance jumps in recent (2008) games from the jump between 180.48 (OFFICIAL) and the last official... didn't even know when that came out it was so long ago... i think april? may?

The last WHQL drivers prior to 180.48 were 178.24 which came out October 15, 2008, a whole month before the 180.48 driver came out on November 19.

I noticed a minor performance jump on my 9600GT, but that's it.

BTW, like the others said, there's 180.60, 180.70, and 181.00. Those are all better than the 180.48 in my opinion. They are better than the 180.48 in folding for sure (got my own reasons)
