My dad bought a $173 prime rib from Meijers. It will only serve our family of four (Mom, Dad, brother, and I)

something like $12.50 / lb for prime rib and my dad bought a big chunk that costs $173!!!! I told him he could have made my car payment with that. Anyone else eat prime rib for Xmas?

Yep, prime rib and lasagna. But we're smart enough to not pay $12.50 a pound for it.

My school actually served a prime dib dinner in The Diner for the "Holiday Dinner" and it was pretty good.

Mashed potatoes, a slice of prime rib, french onion soup, corn, assorted breads, chocolate rum cake, salad for about $18 (meal plan). Not too bad IMHO.

Everyone chooses their places to save and compromise.

Family bought a big roast marinated from some expensive resturant for xmas one year for about 20people. Must have cost about 700-800. It was sooo good.

$173 divided by $12.5/lb is 13.84lbs
13.84lbs divided by 4 people is 3.46 pounds per person!
Granted, that is uncooked weight, but still.. 18-24 ounces is a pretty big portion already.

i have no idea what my mom pays, but oh boy do I love prime rib. One of, if not, my favorite food in the world.

I like it so much I asked my mom if we could have prime rib instead of turkey for thanksgiving. I was a little sad when she brought out a turkey first, but then she brought out prime rib too! 😀

And yes, we normally eat prime rib for christmas

That is so sweet, i wish i was eating 173 dollar prime rib. I'm just going to be having regular steak. 😛 ahh well, not so bad i guess

Its a [standing] rib roast! Unless the grade of meat is 'Prime' it is not prime rib. Many places do not sell prime because it is sold to the resteraunts or rather the resteraunts buy it first from the cattle farms/ranches. I will say that there are some mighty good choice graded standing rib roasts out there availible from various stores, and I've had my fair share of good rib roasts.

BullsOnParade, a standing rib roast or prime rib is not a boiled "steak," it is roasted.
