Wow man... sounds like fun. I was thinking of taking the test to become a state trooper. Can you offer any advise or suggestions? I still have about 8 months until I'm 21, and thus able to take the test.

Get shot at for $40,000 a year, that doesn't sound like fun. But I respect those brave enough to do it.

The current starting salary for a trooper is $53,576.46 (including uniform allowance). The second-year total compensation jumps to $59,968.94. Top pay for a Trooper I is $93,450.23. Troopers receive yearly increments. All recruits receive $777.78 every two weeks, plus overtime pay. Room and board are also provided while training.

Cops suck!

How dare you give a hard working citizen a speeding ticket early in the morning while trying to make it to work on-time? That person probably had to get kids ready for school, and has 2 jobs or so.

How about you guys find yourselves a dark alley to protect instead. Afterall, it is usually those know spots that are high in crime where the same crimes take place over and over again. I'd say, stay away from the main street and go the those ****holes at night and try and get the job done.

Leave hard working, responsible citizens alone!

Why didn't you shoot the guy????

All the necessary prerequisites are there:

1. You have your gun out.
2. It's loaded.
2. There's someone to shoot.

I was close to it, but luckily we were able to resolve the situation without deadly force. I had a perfect angle through the back window, too.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A hail of bullets on a residential street anywhere other than L.A. tends to get the neighbors a wee bit pissed. Especially against an unarmed 20 year old kid whose biggest fear at that moment is getting busted for weed. I'm not saying he's not stupid--but ending the life of someone who probably just wants to be left alone to "do his thing" is a lot more hassle than it's worth. (Imagine the paperwork--and the investigations--and the wrongful death lawsuit...)

Riddle him and then plant a gun in his hands. Problem solved.

1. There's no way to know if he's unarmed, and in the case of a high-speed pursuit it's generally assumed that the person *is* armed.

2. Deadly force would likely be considered authorized at that point, as he nearly ran over officers with his car and was endangering the lives of anyone in the area (his car became a deadly weapon).

3. If he wanted to be left alone to "do his thing," perhaps he shouldn't have driven under the influence, fled from police, and endangered the lives of countless people.

I agree with you on all counts. And it looks like you guys handled it great, because the hail of bullets turned out to be completely unnecessary.

BTW, I enjoy smoking weed, and yes, I tend to drive in a manner that gets me pulled over. But I always stop. Ultimately, I'm a mature, productive, working member of society who is supportive of the police.

You guys don't suck. Stay safe out there. :)

question: how can dispatch call all the people in the building? is the computer network that sophisticated? if so, I'm impressed.

Beats my night. I smoked some hookah early in the evening then played board games for the rest of the night.
