1700XP question, please help!

I have 1700 XP chip and Asus A7v266-E 384 DDR RAM.

I am running Asus probe a utility that monitors fans etc and I was looking at my processor speed and it says:-

Max Speed 1700MHZ
Current Speed 1466MHZ.

Now in the Bios when I choose Auto there is only 2 speeds possible, 1000MHZ and 1466MHZ so I assumed 1466 is the maximum without overclocking. Is this correct or am I running at below the Processor maximum speed?

My friend says 1700XP is just a brand name and 1466 is the speed it is meant to run at if this is the case why is Asus Probe telling me Maximum is 1700Mhz.

Confused!

Not sure why your asus probe is showing the numebers that it is 1700 is a comparison number your chip at 1466 the stock speed compares performance wise at the level of a 1700 standard athlon. That is where the numbers come from the performance rating is 1700 the true processor speed is 1466
