1700 Overclock?

How can I tell if my son's 1700 will overclock? Is their a series of number that tell me? I checked it out on a site that asks for the numbers and all it said was that it was a 1700+. It's a Tbird, not a Pally.

look on the processor for the full serial #, btw its a throughbred not a tbird

It is a throughbred. It's early here in Illinois...

I just don't want to spend the money for a new board unless the 1700 will overclock.

well, it is the throughbred B cores that overclock and as far as i know, the only way to determine whether or not its a t-bred B is by reading the serial # off the CPU

What kind of motherboard is it on? Some overclock much better than others. I have a 8RDA+ and it unlocks the mulitplier and locks the pci bus. I am running my 1700+ at 215x11=2365mhz. Most will not go that high though. My cpu temp right now is 35C. I use a slk800 to cool it.

If you want, just post the entire code off the CPU and shady will spit out what it is 🙂. Thoroughbred-B core 1700s are known to overclock very well. The A core along with the Palomino usually don't get very far (comparatively speaking).

My 1700 was running 12x200 but now it's 11.5x205... 😀

Check the code on the CPU.. it should read like -> AXDA1700DLT3C WPMW0310 (mine) and a bunch of numbers follows.
