1700+ B + HyperX 3000 + Epox 8RDA HELP HELP

I'm hitting some odd limitation based on ram. I'm running at 166x12.5 @ 1.80V(read at 1.84V)synced for 2075Mhz operation.
Latency is set to 7 - 3 - 3 - 2 @ (2.77V). If I push the ram a tiny bit past 166, even if I drop the multiplier to like 10, it will die on me and I'll have to do a CMOS clear.

I'm using a Zalman copper flower to cool and my max temp is 42degrees. I can pass Prime95 torture tests for hours. Can someone help me? I'm looking to increase FSB without necessarily increasing the CPU mhz. (more performance!)

I dropped my timings down to 6-2-2-2.

I have noticed I can't get my multiplier past 12.5 no matter what settings.

I'm also still stuck at 166mhz, where I should be getting 182mhz SPD max, right? Can someone help?

which bios are you using?

pre 1/29 bios, you need to force your ram and cpu timings to boot above 166, or at least I did 🙂.

I dont' believe you can go over 12.5 multiplier on a low speed tbred, but correct me if i'm mistaken.

Mike

the tbred b 1700+ is locked after 12.5x

you can still use 12.5x

what week tbred do you have?

i have the exact same setup as you

i can do 12 x 184 = 2208 no problem 😉

you should be able to get about 185 ... you set memory frequency to 100% right? not by SPD correct in the bios?

i am running 184 @ 2-2-2-6

😀

I'm running 100%. Maybe its an old BIOS? What is the version u guys are running?

I'm running excaliberPC stuff week 302 1700+B.

I've manually adjusted ram settings and up to 170Mhz but each time I have to clear the CMOS. =(

nick

ok. Apparently a new BIOS was released 1/17/03 and my board didn't get that. I'm updating BIOS and I'll let you know results. How hot do you guys run at? What voltage?

nick

right now 1700+ 0302 JIUHB:

2300 = 12 x 184

vdimm: 2.63V
vcore: 1.8V
idle temp: 42C
load temp: 50C

i'm runing the 1/29/03 bios

they have also released a 3/3/03 bios as well but not officially if im correct...

update

Ok, now I'm having some major issues. What do you set as your AGP Frequency option? 66Mhz or auto? I'd think that 66Mhz is standard. I haven't been able to push it yet because the mobo seems even MORE unstable since the flash. I reached 2.133ghz for a few minutes but was unstable @ 1.85. I was going to walk it down a bit but then I had to clear the CMOS again. =(

as mentioned earlier I'm using the Zalman copper flower. My temps are < 45 for anything I can post at ... still having problems getting the RAM to go past 166mhz. =( Any suggestions? Increase voltage? Its at 2.66V right now.

nick

hmm... set everythign regarding memory and cpu settings to "manual"/"expert" controls, if you haven't already done so.

I had problems with hyperx booting about 166 (regardless of voltage) before i did that. I also had problems before hte 1/29 bios. I'm currently running hte 3/03 bios.

Just to give you my settings, i have a 2100+ AIUHB 0258 running at 184x12.5, 1.725V, Thermalright AX-7/Panaflo L1A, 2 sticks of 256mb Kingston HyperX, running 5-2-2-2 Cas 2, 2.77V

Mike

to get anything to boot past the 2.1ghz mark I'm up to 1.875V core but the reading is 1.90V. =(

I think my chip just can't hang very well. (bad luck) Oh wells. I'm now @ 184x11.5. Think I'm going to drop down to 184x11.

niick

oops...

for some reason i thought you had 2100+

you're probably hitting the wall on your processor...

lower your mult and up the FSB...

thanks for all the help guys. I'm stable @ > 2ghz but no way I'm gonna leave it up at 1.9V for the paltry 100mhz performance increase. Running @ 184mhz right now and I'm very happy. THANKS A BUNCH GUYS!

p.s.
AGP is set to AUTO. (@ 66mhz I was getting artifacts)
