17 or 19 in monitor 1280 @ 85hz

Is there such a monitor that is of a trinitron/diamondtron tech and reasonably priced (maybe 300 or so)?

Most "professional" monitors will be able to do that resolution at your desired refresh rate, but for that price you'll need to look at a 17". The Viewsonic PF775 should be a good fit, but I'm sure there are others that fit your criteria.

Well, you probably won't find any good 19" that do that for $300 though you may find some alright ones. For a 17", the Samsung 700NF does 1600x1200@75hz so I think it is safe to assume that it does 1280x1024@85hz though I am not certain, as I can not currently connect the Samsung's website. The KDS AV-7TF may be able to do 1280x1024@85hz. Both of those are under $300, at least from Onvia there are.

I highly recommend the Samsung SyncMaster 700NF and the KDS Avitron AV-17TF. Both excellent monitors and there are simply no others that can beat these two in price/performance ratio, not even ViewSonic.

That's the KDS AV7TF, and its refresh rates aren't really that good.

The refresh rate listed on their web page is not accurate, the users have reported the monitor being capable of running much higher resolutions and refresh rates.
