17" Monitor suggestions please?

I have just ordered the 710T. I hope to have it by next week, so I'll post my impressions then. I'd go with a DVI version of the 710 line. The 710VT and the 710N are analog.

Thanks guys....

what about Sony's?

also...anybody know about a vid card that would support VHS to DVD transfer?
I know it would need an S video out, but what else would I need?

Here Use the coupon under the title for $30 add $10 for the 3 year advance replacement warranty add $20 for shipping and you have it for $430😀 Or you can forget about the warranty and its $420. It has DVI and VGA + Built in speakers (although the speakers arn't all that great) and a 16ms response time🙁

Sony's are overpriced. Stick to Samsung, you'll get a better deal and better quality as well.

As for VHS to DVD transfer, you'll need a videocard with both Video-In and Video-Out... most cards these days have some sort of Video-Out in the form of S-Video, but not too many have Video-In (composite, component, s-video). Take a look at ATI All-in-Wonder (there are several of them out, 8500, 9700, etc... if all you're using the computer for is converting VHS to DVD, the 8500 AIW will be more than adequate... but if you're doing some heavy gaming too, you might want to look at some of the higher end ones like the 9700 AIW).

I have a Samsung 191T. Great monitor for everything, including gaming. Make sure you use DVI though. AGP gets a little weird sometimes.

For your parents? Get the cheapest you can since they dont game. DVI is overrated, I used both DVI and non-dvi monitors. If I were you, I wouldn't spend over $380.
