Meh. Too expensive, still has the glass trackpad, no Blu-ray. As much as I want matte, I don't want it that bad.

Optional 8 gigs of RAM! Optional 2.93ghz Core 2 Duo! Very nice! :D

I think the non-removable battery is the dumbest idea ever - you have to take the laptop apart just to change the battery? For $2,700, really? lol.

Edit: LOL, $1200 for 8gb ram!

I wonder what's different about the 17" that would allow it to work with 8GB of RAM?

I do want the laptop, but I still feel it might be a bit too big to lug around.

I don't know what you guys expected. Did you really expect a $2300 or $2500 17" notebook? This is Apple after all. Either way, I'm saving my pennies right now for the Q4 refresh with i7!

Yea.. problem is is I convinced my work to hold off until this Quarter to see if they refresh to i7, but now it looks like it'll be a mid Summer/Fall release.. which I'm not sure they'll wait.

I'm using my personal laptop right now, and they are kinda overanxious about getting me a "company" machine.. ugh.. so stupid.

Sorry, but it's a little "too revolutionary" for me. I didn't really enjoy using it, I prefer buttons. I love the trackpad on my Early-2008 MBP, absolutely no qualms with it whatsoever. Some people dig it, some people hate it. Group me with the latter.

I'd prefer NO clickpad, just tap on the trackpad. I really like the multi-touch stuff.

Hey thats fine. I am a big fan of, the smoothness is incredible and the fact that it will feel that way for the entire life of the laptop is a big selling point for me.

As for BluRay... I can understand why they didn't include, especially after Anand's review of the XPS One 24 with BluRay.

If any other company decided to charge $50 for a matte screen people would go crazy. And no removable battery or access to update the memory or HD yourself? I don't think anything could penetrate Apple's armor.

I know they stated there wasn't a removable battery, but there's not a removable HDD or RAM? Where's that info?

Based on all the shots of the bottom. There are no signs of you being able to easily remove the bottom to get at the RAM or hard drive. However, if it is as easy as the new MacBook then it shouldn't be too bad. After all, the new MacBook does not have easily accessible RAM.

oh YES. finally...the mbp has redeemed itself. the silver bezel, matte display, finally...i dont care that it lost firewire 400 or that the battery isnt removable (i never remove the battery anyways). i just hope that the matte display comes to the 15" mbp, or else ill have to save a bit more for the 17".

im not in any rush to buy it...as i only have the money to buy it during the summer, when im SURE there will be a refresh of the mbps.

im probably going to do the ADC route again (well im not sure if i can just renew my membership and get another discount, or that i will have to open a new account to get the one time discount) to get the price much lower like i did in 2007 for my 15" mbp.
