when people post LCD deals, they really gotta start posting the most relavant specs:
1) connectivity (dvi or d-sub)
2) response time
3) contrast ratios
4) rebates/PMs involved?

It doesn't say the response time at the site. Maybe you might have the motivation to look it up on your own?

US Spec Link

Taiwan Spec Link

So, is this a 6 bit or 8 bit panel?
Newegg's specs say that its displays " 16.7 Milllion colors,
the Taiwanese specs list 16.2 Million colors,
and the US page doesn't provide any info.

None of the pages specify if the panel uses dithering.

Anyone know whats up here?

Impressions:

- the unit is light without the base and easily mountable - you have to remove the backcover when mounting which kind of exposes the circuits. There is an optional TV module you can buy and plug in. The unit has DVI and analog. The cables it comes with are too close to each other so you have to really push to get both screwed in. The DVI it uses has pins above the flat part and below (so check your video card connectors) GEFORCE works fine. But some port replicators do not.

- the unit supports 1280 x 1024 which is nice. The manual says 75 hz but it only supports 60hz. My unit did not have any dead pixels. It will run @ 75hz but after awhile it gets kind of jittery. Does anyone else have this problem thru the DVI?

- Speakers are tinny but do their job. Overall a good value since no rebate is required.

Yup, the Taiwan link was wrong. *shrug*
Went back and looked for specs on the 1731D models and couldn't find one :-

I wish there were some way to determine the color depth of this thing.

i just got mine on Friday, i put it on my wifes pc, i have one dead pixel...no biggie.

seems to be okay, connecting both dsub and dvi are a pain and require a little shaving of the plug adapter ( i have my server hooked to it as well)

changing the input is a pain in the keester also

but for the price and quality with no rebates, no tax and free shipping....YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS

i had this for a week and returned it. If you are a gamer do not buy it, it has contrast issues which make playing dark games like Doom 3 unplayable.

Never run an LCD @75hz, it'll result in distorted image quality and fragmentation, they ALL function properly at 60hz. Remember, the refresh rate has nothing to do with response time or frame rate, it's just a frequency it communicates at. LCD technology doesn't benifit from a increased frequency because of its nature. CRT's, however, do.

but manual states optimum resolution:
1280x1024x75hz [does anyone's work @ 75hz? on DVI]
