No DVI, but looks pretty good. I think I am gonna get one of these instead of the princeton.

PRICEDROP!

i'm getting VERY tempted right now, but i'm worried that it dosnt have DVI, and only 16.2 mill colors.

DVI makes NO difference in a 17" monitor. You will not be able to tell until you go 19" or bigger.

At $239 this is a steal.

based on reviews i have read of this LCD im jumping all over this! this LCD gets great reviews not only on newegg but all over (search google to check for yourself). i wanted a 19" but for that price (with all the rebates + free shipping) and the specs its offering, this is just too good of a deal to pass up! thanks op for the heads up on a great deal

from everything i have read on this model you can only tilt the screen up and down as there is no height adjustment. someone please correct me if im wrong.

You are correct, there is no height adjustment. I have a Pascal programming book under mine to adjust the height.

how do you like the lcd? do you game on it? im interested in first hand feedback if you dont mind. all the reviews i read on newegg and similar sites were all very positive.

I ordered this on 2/8/2005 when they had the one-day special for 249.00. It arrived on Friday and I just set it up today. From what I can see, surfing the web and using office programs is great on this monitor. I have so much more space compared to my 12" toshiba m200 tablet pc. However, when I play dvd's I can definately notice a bit of pixelation. I'm not sure whether this is due to the 16.2M colors, the fact that its non-dvi, the 1280x1024 resolution, or if its just too slow to play videos properly.

In terms of games, Warcraft III looks decent while the text in Starcraft is rather blurry. I haven't tried playing half life 2 or doom 3 with this yet so we'll see if the quality is any better with these games later on.

If you want my opinion, I'd rather have spent the extra 100 for a samsung with dvi. However, it could just be that my laptop's graphics card isn't powerful enough to take advantage of this monitor.

just got mine from newegg today. fired up half-life 2 and call of duty and both look outstanding at any resolution!!! no dead pixels, no ghosting, awesome! i cant say enough about how glad i am i got in on this deal. thanks again for the original post  btw, the lcd is now $229 at newegg A/R!!!!

AFAIK Starcraft plays at 640x480 only, which is why it would look blurry. Make sure you're running at the monitor's native resolution if you want the best quality. And yes, it's now $229 after rebate!!! Wish there wasn't tax for CA residents though. =(

Damn $229.00 ar is an excellent price for this monitor I paid $280.00 at Buy.com a month and a half ago. I really like it excellent picture, no ghosting in games no dead pixels. I don't watch dvd's on it but now I'm curious to see what the others are talking about.

I've done some gaming on it, but nothing challenging. No One Lives Forever 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Rise of Nations Gold Edition all running at 1280x1024x32M. I don't see any ghosting and after calibration with the included software, the colors are bright and vivid. I also have a Princeton Synergy 714 which is DVI and the color on the Samsung looks better and brighter. Both are running off a Ti4200 video card.

Price just dropped at chiefvalue from 309-55 instant rebate plus the retail rebate for both the silver and black models.

well im looking for a good lcd but there are so many out there i dont know what to get. so far ive seen Hyundai L90D+, Dell 1905FP, 2001fp, or 17" LCD SAMSUNG 710N. im just looking for a moderately good lcd for a good price.
