I just got a monitor from a friend and he told me there were color problems on the top left and bottom left corners... Although it may not be related to the vga connection, i wanted to know if the plug was suppossed to have 14 pins or 15 pins

#4 on the second row is missing

any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Pin #9 doesn't have any function in the VGA connector standard. Maybe there's some magnetism on the screen but I don't know how to solve ("de-gauss"?) this.

Most VGA connectors do not have all 15 pins.
I think your friend has something magnetic next to his monitor. His speakers may not be magnetically shielded, or the PC speaker in the computer may not be magnetically shielded. Have him move the monitor around to see if the problem persists.
