I found 2 Viewsonic monitors - a 17 and 19 in. Which do you all prefer? Also, does anyone know how good these are? click
I'm thinking of the 19 inch, but just not 100% sure.

Thanks!

Definately go 19", and check several different ones out! The Samsung 900NF is an excellent monitor.......I have a 1200NF and love it! ;)

I'd say 19" if your budget allows, you wont regret going for a bigger one. I recommend Samsung 19" monitors.

19" of course if you can afford it. If you get a good, big one you won't be upgrading your monitor for a while. I wouldn't get a Optiquest. They're okay but Samsung and Hitachi make much better ones (well as do other companies but I like those two for price).

Indeed, all things being equal, go for the larger monitor. If you have to choose, however, between a quality 17" and a cheesy 19", go for quality. You look at it all the time and it is the one component most likely to make the transistion to your next system. Don't settle for a crap monitor! I have a Samsung 19" that was very affordable and looks great. Viewsonics are nice too, but don't skimp on quality and you'll never regret it...

Yup I think the Samsung 900NF is the best 19" for it's price. Try searching the forums on it there has been a lot of threads involving it. It is between $400-$450.

I've been researching for weeks. Got it down to Samsung 955DF or Samsung 900NF.
After a ton of help from you guys (THANKS!), I chose the 900NF. I've been researching prices now and can get it just above $400 plus shipping.
**Don't forget $30 MIR from Samsung! link
Buy.com price matches so if they offer free shipping soon, I will get it from there.

Play games then go for 19Inch, but just for surfing the net and general stuff, then 17Inch. Also if you spend alot of time in front of the PC a 17Inch would be better for the eyes cause too much of a big monitor will make your eyes go square... Get what I mean.

Good Luck,

Albert.

19" hands down. I have to suffer with a 17" at work, but I have this 19 inches of pure goodness when I come home.

19 inch!!

the Samsung 955DF is probably priced closer to the Optiquest you were looking at, and much better. The 900NF is one of the best 19" monitors, but it's more expensive.

You spoiled, spoiled people. "Suffer with a 17" at work"? A 17" is enough. A 19" is too big unless it's going in a home. If you ever go to LAN parties a 19" is a big pain in the buttocks to lug around.

Also, I still use a 14" and 15" at home, and a couple of my friends here at college (actually just about all of them) use 15" because of lack of space in the door rooms. 19" monitors are just too big in depth.
