i called eb this morning. verified my ship address. they said they would call if any more delays. Mine says Open now too fom On hold. Should change to shipped tomorrow since today was holiday. or maybe wednesday. Im excited. Now....where to hide ps2 from wife. I am so in the dog house. Good thing i have 32" tv in office. They only come with the standard 1 month warrenty that all PS2's have :frown:. I used one of my credit cards (Mastercard Quantum Plat.) that double the warrenty of any product you purchase. So it gives me 2 monthes for a warrenty. I called EBWorld and they said that it comes with everything that the brand new ps2 comes with; even the box and manuals.

what version model you received, ex: 30001= version4 models, 35001=newer version4 models? I might want to buy one if the versions aren't too outdated and if the console is in very good condition.

Yes, I am very interested in seeing just what kind of condition these units come in...I'm rather reluctant to buy used electronics gear (or anything else, for that matter). Something about stuff in brand-new packaging, I guess

refurbished and trade ins usually go to a center and get cleaned, tested, un modded LOL, and shrink wrapped just like new. the cords are tidied up and so forth. Or so has been my experience. I know a dude that use to work for babbages. I might ask him.

I'm not sure if this holds any validy or if its true to that matter, but I've heard that Sony has reduced the price of their PS2 to $199 or something like that. The logic behind this is that their is no markup for consoles, so if a distributor buys it for $189, it will be sold for $199. Allegedly, when the holidays are over, and the inventory clears, you should except to see PS2's for $199. Like I said before, I have no official confirmation or what-not, its just something a friend told to me. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry -- but if you think about it, it could be true --

i just got back from hk, where they just released the ps2...
the retail price there is about $230 (in US currency)...so i dunno if that means they will be lowering the ps2 price here anytime soon.

Guys, I talked to dan for the 2nd time at eb.com. cs #

HE told me these are put through some really good checks, If controllers are worn i got the impression that they were replaced. Some of these are returns at eb, some are trade in for games or systems upgrades. It is too late to cancel orders. If it says processing the only thing you can do is reject shipment (directly from dan)

If you wanna wait and see what the us market does then i encourage you to wait. I spoke with local contact that works at eb and they are speculating a price drop mid january. You can pick up extended warranty for 19.99 if you take your dot.com receipt to the store. (Also confirmed by dan)

Lastly, He stated my unit would ship tomorrow from the warehouse.

I can get ps2s at sears with 20% off with wifes discount. I already bought about 4 games though. So i think i will consider this like a cpu. Price is always gonna drop and there is always gonna be something better.

Warning though, I've noticed on my reviews (such as DVD Players) that my initial review is always glowing ("Magnificent! "Unbelievable!") then after a day I come back on and post "Oh, wait, there are some flaws." heh heh I'll do my best now that I recognize my "fickleness."

Someone was mentioning that you have to file a claim with AMEX Blue to get extended warranty... did you mean that you need to file a claim for the product when you buy it, to register it for warranty, or only when you want to collect on that warranty?

are you sure about that?? that sounds scary to those who already bought PS2 at EB(including ME )... how low will it drop, will it like the rumor $199.99 ???

anyway, I can see no reason why sony should drop price this year?! all i see is X BOX is DYING FAST. GameCube just start getting games (will the GC die like the DC ? who knows. but PS2 surely will stay good for few more years !!!) so why the hell they do that?

gr8snakee, you're right, I'm interested in what models the ps2 are because of their modchip abillities. the scph-30001/35001 models are version4 which can be modded with the neo4 or messiah chip which doesn't require swapping, even though the modchips works for versions 1,2,3 models as well, early might have more problems then a more recent model. I'm holding back for now because there's a possibility for me to get a new ps2 for $200 within this vacation period, even if the new one is version 5(scph-30001R, the "R" is the only sign I know that tehy are version 5, but rarely, sometimes even if it says 30001R, it might still contain a version 4 inside if you're lucky), I'm willing to get a version 5 even if the neo4 or messiah modchips don't work because I would have saved over a $100 when tax and shipping is included. hopefully I can come back and post: "yes o yes I got a ps2 for $200" if not, i'll just play old games on my computer and be depressed for the new years.

I don't have an Amex blue, I have a Quantum Mastercard. With my company, all you have to do is dial their 1-800 and file a claim AFTER the unit becomes faulty, not before. I am not sure on the rules for amex blue. Just give them a call and ask for the terms of their extended warrenty.

well ive got some friends at eb that are in the know. All im saying is that XBOX is expensive and gamecube looks awefully cool at the 199 price point. someone said earlier and is very correct. Its worth taking a loss on the hardware for the increased software sales. It really makes sense if you think about it. But i have a n xbox too and it rox!.
