Its good to see the prices coming down a bit, but they still didn't take a huge HIT ..

I'd say wait until about xmas time and they'll be some great bargins, this monitor is ok but theres no DVI :-( PLUS i'M NOT SURE ON THE brand if the quality is up to par.

Hopefully we can start seeing some 19" LCD top brands with DVI in the $300 range soon, thats my jumping point 😉

I read today that LCD prices should be dropping by another 1/3 within the next couple of quarters. Announcement was made by LG Phillips that increased competition, increased supply and lesser demand for LCD TV is causing a huge inventory in the market and thus prices will drop atleast another 1/3rd. I think that around XMas, we will see 17" LCD deals for ~200 and 19" for ~350. but i could be wrong.

i think that article was on www.news.com

agreed. there have been alot of deals on LCD's lately, most of them on newegg. they had a 19in rosewill for 375 i had to resist, but I gota hold out for the DVI.

its a digital connection that produces a clearer connection. Most video cards nowadays has a plug for both on the rear.

well, i don't know too much, but simply put, one is analog output (vga) and the other is a digital output (DVI)

If you already knew that, well...i'm not help obviously haha.

The signal from the video card is digital and has to be converted into analogue for use with the "old" CRTs. If the LCD unit has only the VGA input, the signal will be input as analogue and converted back into digital.

If the Video card's DVI (Digital Video Interface) connector is used to connect to the LCDs DVI connector, there is no conversion...the signal is used as an unmodified video stream for the display.

Thanks for your replies. So if the LCD had no DVI connection and it used a VGA connection, the vid card would convert it to analog, right?

How does a DVI connection compare to S-video? I noticed that some vid cards come with a S-video connection? This is used if you want to hook up your HDTV to the vid card right? or do some LCDs come with s-video? Thanks a lot.

I hope it is true to whoever said that LCDs would fall again. I have had my Dell 19" ($800) for two years and before I bought this, I had seen that the prices had plataud (sp). They really haven't changed a ton since then. Good ones still cost within $100 of that price.
