Warm Deal.
$199.95 plus, no rebate required to get this price. Fry's Electronics are only in California that I know of. They have no online ordering either.

Lite-On makes their own drives.. its not a rebadged Sanyo and unfortunately they aren't making a 16x drive yet. So either the subject is a typo or the whereever you saw this originally was one.

I saw the ad before I left work today, it said 16X. I tried calling the store, nobody is picking up, Fry's, what did I expect. Liteon web page for their CDRW products isn't connecting. Then again, it could be a typo then. But the 12x is going for $150 at a lot of online stores. So this would be a ice cold deal then if it was 199 for 12X.

More than likely it was a typo. One online store is selling the Lite-On 12x drive for $220 (the rest are under $200) but in the retail world $199 for a 12x cd-rw doesn't always seem high to a lot of consumers. Most of us tech-heads know better but some people don't. $200 for the latest burner technology is not unreasonable in comparison to the $300+ they used to be when burners first started out.

Fry's is also here in texas, they are probably just trying to make some cash on this particular item, and more than likely will sell more than one of them ;)

There are no other 16x CD-RW's listed or CD-RW's from Liteon in the flyer? Very interesting...

I found a couple of places on Pricewatch selling Lite-on 12x10x32 CDRW for 150. www.mwave.com is selling for $145.00 LITE ON 32X-READ/12X-RECORDE/10X-REWRITABLE CD-ROM REWRITABLE DRIVE W/SW(Retail) Its in stock too. They have decent resellaratings.com rating.

Thanks for pointing it out to me, my mistake I apologize to all you guys. I was in a rush to drop my buddy off the airport, so I quickly glance at the Fry's ad before I flew out the door. Sorry again guys. I'll be more careful next time before I post. Thanks www4ASearchcom for pointing it was Pacific Digital Brand and not Lite on.

Does anyone know if this have burnproof?
I didn't see it mentioned on their site.

It has an 8MB buffer, but at 16x EIDE I would want burnproof.

no it does not have burn proof, i think it is a rebranded yamaha!

newbie - your title should read 16x10x40 and 199.00 not 199.99

i have the liteon 8x4 cdrw drive, and flashed it to the 12x10 version. it has burn-proof and supports clonecd. liteon makes firmware updates about every 1 and a half to 2 months.
