Wow, that format is awesome, altho it did use all my CPU. But I had ultra smoothness and ultra efficiency.

QT7 - black for 20 seconds then 3-4 frames back to black.
MPC - smooth playback, no skips.

I downloaded the Elecard decoder. How come VLC is still choppy?

Specs in sig right? You need a 3GHz+ for smooth playback of WMVHD clips. You need even more for these h.264 clips. So I really don't think your 2.4c can handle it.

I downloaded the Elecard MPEG player and it runs fine in that.

I loves my dual G5. By the way, QT7 only reports this as 1104*624, not 1080i.

Goosemaster: Where do you get the HD source when your make the movie clips? Aren't DVD's 480p?

I tried:

VLC
MPC
QT7
Showtime
Elecard

Only MPC would display it properly after installing the decoder.

/me wants HDTV :(

I have a hunch that Moonlight would play this file just fine, but VLC doesn't do very well. Choppy but proc is only at 35%.

Perhaps I should download it again...

Nero Showtime played it sort of smoothly for me, but my 2.4 P4 was at 100% usage the whole time. MPC played it very choppily and only used 50% CPU.

plays great on my 3200+, 80% CPU utilization. Can't believe that's a 16MB clip! I might have to transcode my DVD movies!

Yeah, some of those H.264 codecs can be a real bitch with messing with the rest of your video files, or popping up dialogue boxes whenever explorer accesses a directory with video files.

I couldn;t get it to play very much until I upgraded ffdshow to the latest and enabled h.264. Now the video plays fine, but the sound is a little choppy.

FWIW, transcoding video isn't a superb idea unless you don't mind losing a little quality or you're using the original as your source :)
