Also, for home, should I just go with Nero Showtime?

What are you using to encode, Goose? Sorry, don't have the time to look into it right now, so I'll just ask.

Gotcha, just saw it on their website when I was getting ShowTime.

Looked alright to me, not spectacular, though. Is my 19" LCD panel doing this movie justice? I wouldn't know.

EDIT: Smooth as silk, A64 3200+, 1 gig of mem, X800 XL 256 MB.

Getting now, thanks.

Speaking of LCDs being HDTV-compliant, as long as it has the necessary resolution, are you experiencing it fully?

LCDs usually have a few set limitations, and their effect on programming depends on a case-by-case basis.

First, they usually have contrast issues when view in dark areas. Becuase light is used to light the LCD, you get darks that aren't as capable as on a monitor (CRT) or even on DLPs.

Second they sometimes have colors that aren't as rich as on CRTs.

THat said, most of these issues are becomign quite nonexistant on modern TVs, so as long as you can display 720p @ 1280x720 and use a video processor to downscale 1080i (1920x1080) down coorectly, you should be fine🙂

Nero Showtime

Smoooooooothhh

I like Nero Recode too. I'm converting my movies to play on my new PalmOne LifeDrive. I've got 3 full length movies on it with room for 3 more!
(480x320 ~500Kbit/s 2 pass Mp4 encoding)

Ok, so I'm watching the video - what's so impressive? It's 1080 pixels wide, other than that I don't see anything special. It still has the same type of compression artifacts that every other MPEG file has always had.

After installing that Moonlight sh1t the playback of all my video files is fvcked up. Bleached out and blocky, w00t 🙁

Yeah, some of those H.264 codecs can be a real bitch with messing with the rest of your video files, or popping up dialogue boxes whenever explorer accesses a directory with video files.

Yep. I've tried uninstalling all the video apps, deleting codecs etc but no joy. Looks like this install is screwed unless someone has a magical idea?

You gotta find all the registry entries and delete them, and find any references in the registry to the codec files in the system folder and make sure those get deleted as well.
