16mb cache vs 8mb cache

Im going to get a new hard drive and have decided on a Seagate 400gb one. The thing is Ive found 2, 1 8mb cache and the other with 16mb, but the difference in price is about 20 bucks. Is it worth the exxtra money to get the 16mb or will I be fine with just 8?

Its the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, Serial ATA-300

vs Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB Hard Drive - 7200, 8MB, Serial ATA-300

The 400GB HDs aren't really the best bang for the buck. Where are you buying from?
Do they offer the 500GB versions?

I was looking at Zipzoomfly, Newegg and Tigerdirect

I really do not need a 500gb one. Im upgrading my internal from a 250gb and 400 is more than enough. I already own a 500gb external and a 500gb internal would be overkill for my needs

Tom's Hardware tested almost all the 7200.10 units and found little diff between the 8 and 16MB versions. They said if there is little or no diff in price that it can't hurt.

This thread also belongs in the Peripherals section.

Seagate is not supposed to sell 400GB hard drives because they are known to have some problems. I had two 400GB hard drives died in 5 months Seagates shipped me a new 750GB Barracuda with perpendicular technology.

I just got a couple of 1TB drives with 32MB caches and it doesnt seem to make much of a difference.
I'd really like to see a small, fast drive with a huge cache, just to know if it really matters.
Something like a 74GB Raptor with a 64 or 128 Meg cache.
Havent found anything like that yet.
