have two of these drives.. they are great and took alot of abuse. fast drives. but im wondering if i should just buy micro sd cards now and just swap them out of a memory card reader for multi use situation like camera psp phone? hmmm great price tho. i paid 25 for mine each i think or at least 22..

THanks. I am especially interested in the "convert your Win 7 DVD to USB drive for installation" thing. That sounds cool.

OStoGO does sound interesting, though there is no mention of incorporating USB 3.0 drivers, or UEFI support. I've done both. I was thinking of doing a write-up, but wasn't sure if there would be interest in it since Win8 is now out. Maybe I will... Any interest?

Certainly interested Zap -- I currently use my USB 2.0 drive for installing Windows 7 and it works great -- much faster installation than DVD. Always looking for new tricks and tips though. 🙂

Definitely interested too  I only use my USB drive for OS installs now.

Thanks for the post Perk! Picked up two.

Here it is

Okay, starting with ZERO information, but I'm going to be adding to it now. Already have stuff written. Just need to clean it up and post it. Look for a lot of updates in the next few minutes.

You can get Microcenter-branded 16GB/USB 3 drives for $8.99 even. I have 2 of them (one for Mountain Lion Install, one for Windows 7) and they are pretty quick. Haven't filled either to capacity though.

It's a good drive. I've had one for a couple months, I just placed mine into Freenas duty so need to get a replacement but won't be another one of these. Not because anythings wrong, I just hate caps as I always lose them and this was no exception.

I have had a 102 for just over the year. Love the metal frame, had to superglue the plastic bottom back on. But its fast, one of the few USB 3 devices that can utilize the added speed, just barely though. Either way of the low priced bottom basement thumb drives it certainly has to be one of the fastest devices and the metal case will allow it to last a long time.

Still waiting on mine. Newegg shipping was free but I sure don't use it for anything I need in a hurry.🙂 Last tracking note on mine has it sitting 160 miles away since 11/8. Ah, well, I'm willing to trade speedy delivery for a good deal and free shipping.

Aside from putting an OS install on one, do you guys know if it's possible to get other installs too? Like Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Would be awesome if I could consolidate all of my install dvds onto this one thing so that I don't need to go raiding my bookshelf whenever I wipe Windows to reinstall!

You should be able to slipstream a bunch of that into the OS install, go over to the OS forum to ask how.
