16gb RAM 15.9gb usable?

So I have 16gb RAM installed but winders says that only 15.9gb of it is avaliable, this doesnt make any sense. Can someone help me figure out why im missing 100mb or memory?

Its a calculation issue, need your product id to make the correct memory calculation

I wouldn't worry about it. It's happening on mine as well. There are too many answers for too many different systems. On this work PC it is taken up by graphics card while on my personal laptop... I stopped trying to figure it out.

If it really bothers you, then buy more RAM, it's cheap.

100 MB is not that much to worry about. I lose about the same on my laptop but it is far more noticeable at 2 GB instead of 16 GB.

Surely you don't think you'd actually NOTICE the extra 100mb of memory? :\

This is already 2x-4x as much RAM as you're probably ever going to utilize anyway.

Microsoft should just report the "installed memory" capacity. Adding the "usable" amount just confuses people since the usable amount will almost never equal the installed amount.

Its the people that question absolutely EVERYTHING about their computer that really bother me at my job. While support isn't my primary line of work, I get called on to do it occasionally, and man its frustrating.

guess is either a windows thing or you have the iGPU enabled and it is taking 64MB of ram for itself. Windows is rounding it to 100MB.
