Question 16gb (2x8) G.skill Flare x 3200 cas14 - risk factor of not working when adding a second kit??

EDIT: Took the jump and bought the ram so will report my experiences going forward on my x470 Gaming 7 board with 3800x.

So, that didn't go as according to plan. The new ram arrived and is defective. Not only would it not show both sticks when I tried to combine it with my existing ram, it gives me the memory training error when I try to install it by itself. The exact same kit I already own works perfectly in my MB, but when I remove it and put in the new kit I only see 8GB instead of 16. So back to Newegg it goes....

I decided to just get a new kit of 32GB and then sell off my old ram. Went ahead and ordered the Corsair Ballistix 3600 16-18-18-38 which should be good enough. Hard to find much with tighter timings these days. Can't imagine I will notice much if any real world difference between 3200 CL14 and the new 3600 cl16.
