silly me got a motherboard that auto detects the fsb speed for the processor and won't give me anything but a 1/4 pci divider. is there anyway to trick the motherboard into thinking i have a 166mhz part?
I don't think there is a bridge connection for FSB detection on the XP's, but I'm not sure. However, if the board will not recognise/allow FSB changes, multipliers and CPU core voltage, you're out of luck.
ohh it does all of that, like i said it just auto detects the fsb speed. to make things more clear it is a gigabyte 7vaxp ultra, i was hopeing i could at least short some pins on the socket or something to get the 1/5 divisor but i havent managed to find and info. i saw a pic of an older 7vaxp and it had a different dip siwtch on it aswell as a silk screen which showed manual settings for both 166mhz aswell as 200mhz aswell and my board does have the contacts for the dip switch in place but simply a signal switch that sets between 100 and auto so posablty a little sodering can get me a 1/6 divisor but i want to get some more info before voiding my warenty.
