160GB Drive (150GiB) says it's 6.5 gigs from being full

Assuming OS is reporting in-use and free accurately, some other possibilities:

Hidden Partitition (recoevery partition from factory)
Improper CMOS Settings for drive (LBA)
Bad Sectors
File System Choice / Overhead (Block Size)

Edit: On the negative side, if it's any of the above, fixing the issue may and/or will result in loss of data, so read up and backup first.
 
What is a "GiB"?

BTW, Advertised drive size and actual formatted drive size are always different...
ALWAYS! :laugh:
