160gb $30 AR

Two are Western Digital and one is from CompUSA.

The drawbacks of this deal are the 3 rebates, and the fact that WD drives are all 1 year warranty....except for the Raptors of course.

$0.25/GB for me after tax assuming the rebates ever come in... this or another seagate... running out of space blows!

I wonder if anyone will actually receive all three rebates. The only good thing is that it hedges your bets that some of the rebates will come through. On the otherhand, if CompUSSR decides to screw everyone, they get screwed paying $100+ for an 80 gig drive.

I've applied for 8 WD and 4 CUSA rebates in the last year or so and received all with no problem. Even allowing for the annoyance of dealing with multiple rebates (not uncommon for WD), this seems like a hot deal to me - thanks OP.

I can say I have been denied for 3 compusa rebates and all three I returned to the store with the ad and my reciept and they refunded my money,

CUSA rebates and WD rebates are very good. 6 weeks tops and you'll have your dough. CUSA is usually around a month or so.

3 bloody rebates is a CRIME, if it was $60 with a $30 rebate it would be a hot deal.

Just sell the damn things for $30 and save us all the rebate hassle.

Anybody know if 2 these drives can be set up as RAID system? I know the basic principal of RAID, but I haven't set 1 up yet.

Thanks,

Bud

luckily, compusa has been nailed legally for rebate issues (think this was mentioned in another thread): link

Man! Please someone tell me that I am stupid!! I got the drive and ready to paid for it and I finally gave up because first I don't think I need another drive, second I don't really like three rebates !!

You may get only one back because 30 dollars for 160gb doesn't make sense. I've had 2 rebates that only 1 came so I end up paying more then advertised price still.
I wonder why they need to hold onto your money for over 2 months. If you sent in the upc code from the box, aren't you entitled to receive rebates within a week of them receiving it?

There are 2 Western Digital rebates and 1 Compusa rebate...with 2 copies of the UPC needed and 1 original UPC.

Everything makes sense to me...and fully intend on receiving ALL rebates. Period🙂

You should get both WD rebates back, they are two different offers. 1 rebate per person, I guess per offfer. Glad I was on at 1am and snagged me one. Just make copies, and be aggressive about getting your rebate money, never has failed me yet.

Same here...and I've mailed in and gotten at LEAST 60 rebates over the last 4-5 years.

And yes you are correct...even the offer number on the mailing address is different by 1 number so the rebate submission will go to a different location at WD.

Rebates are slight pain in the @ss, but it keeps prices low for those willing to accept the conditions of the MIRs. I see no end in sight to the MIR process.
