Had a similar instance locally a few years back, minus being rich, and you can clearly see the difference.
Poor white female teenager, drunk and on Oxycodone, killed 3/4 leaving only the dad (driver) to survive. She veered into the oncoming lane on a bridge.
She is serving life in prison.

Trump is far from brainless. He is a master manipulator. Look what he did to 65M voting Americans. He convinced them all he was the savior. Not to mention the countless businesses, investors, banks, property owners, and employees. What did they used to say about President Obama? "The boy from Kenya who would call himself king."? You've never been closer to a totalitarian America than you are right now. As if the internal conflict in the country wasn't enough. We're on the brink of a race war inside our borders.
Now, I'll say this. The policy has been, and always will be, that if you kill or kidnap an American, we will kill you. Ruthlessly. That has spanned many many presidents including President Obama who ordered the execution of Somali pirates. I don't have any issues with that. What I do have issues with is the target, the proof, and the lack of congressional oversight. And yet, he does it. Time and time again he can circumvent Congress.
Trump is beyond brilliant. So much so, that he rose to power in one of the most sophisticated countries on the planet. He did it with a party that hated him (GOP) and a party that wanted him in prison (Dems). And now look, every Republican from here to DC is going to bat for him under the guise of due process. They are all talking about how unfair we are to him.
Bastard twat, I can get behind. Brainless, far from it, and THAT is very very scary.

I think the thing with Trump is he APPEARS like an idiot but he's actually smart. That's probably even more dangerous than someone that's just an entitled idiot. But yeah this kid does have the potential to be a leader one day which is kind of scary. To be a leader in this capitalist world you need money. That's it. Money. The rest will determine if you're going to be a good leader, but you only need money to get there.

I see sentences of 5-12 years for similar cases, including a "max" 6-year sentence for someone killing her 3 friends, and another case of 7-12 years for another case of killing 3 friends. What makes your case a life-in-prison sentence? I just don't get it.
I don't think any teen deserves life unless it was premeditated.

Yeah, you have that wrong. Trump is not actually smart, but he's not an idiot either. He's just a frat boy that failed to grow up and is now in way over his head. He never wanted to be president, he wanted to run and give speeches and rabble rouse and be outrageous and grow his own brand. The guy is clearly savvy enough to understand marketing and believes in the adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity. You don't do the things he's done by being stupid. He was actually pretty good at his old job, he just Peter-Principaled his way into a job that he's not smart enough or engaged enough to handle.

Ill be honest, I never saw the actual sentencing of this individual. The rumor around town, and from people close to her family is that she was sentenced to life. It's quite possible that isn't true. In hindsight, I should have fact checked that before I posted it. Thank you.
I'll try to find the court docket and see what I can turn up.

I think it's almost a meaningless question ('is Trump an idiot?'). He has the qualities that the US system and a near-majority of the population demand right now. The system has selected for him, whatever he is.
