WTF

Taxpayers are going to be paying for 95% of the Affluenza kid's treatment!?!?!

http://www.wnd.com/2014/04/outrage-erupts-over-tax-subsidies-for-affluenza-convict/
“The real truth is that our criminal justice system is suffering from ‘affluenza’ because affluent people can afford better attorneys and get better outcomes,” said Drexel University Law Professor Daniel Filler, who told USA Today that any savvy attorney could use this argument after the media attention of Couch’s case. He notes that the parents’ attorney was “doing what a well-paid lawyer can do.”
If you're poor, you go to jail and help that industry remain profitable.
If you're rich, you get "treatment" at someone else's expense.

Couch’s parents previously had volunteered to pay $450,000 a year for their son’s rehabilitation at a posh Newport Beach, Calif., facility. Instead, he was directed to the state facility costing $260,000 a year, of which they will contribute $14,040, officials said.
Weird.

"No, no, we wouldn't want to burden you. We have an unlimited pool of taxpayer money to draw from."

Yeah this story sucks from beginning to end. If I were a Texas resident I would be absolutely livid.

If I was related to the deceased, Ethan would have a 30 caliber hole in his head already.

This is a travesty.

Yep. If you can't whack this kid and his whole shitheaded family and get off on temporary insanity the US justice system is truly worthless.

Seems like the judge missed an opportunity to cure this "affluenza" by throwing him in the slammer, and instead just proved that money does solve everything.
Just like we have the best democracy money can buy, we have the best "justice" system money can buy

F*ckin nuts! How can anyone argue that the rich don't have special privileges compared to the poor/middle class when they find themselves in trouble. If this were to happen to anyone of us, we would be looking at 20+ years in jail.

I hope they sue the sh*t out of this guy and his family.

Sadly we the people allow this to happen as the 'people' are more interested in stories on who fucked who, who got killed on the street last night and seeing their peers get raked over the coals.

This kid made a terrible mistake, but he is just 16 and stupid. Those that served him, his parent's and the like should be held accountable too.

It's not his fault he is wealthy and being wealthy should be a goal we all have.

Instead we make it something bad to do and become our own victims.

It's crazy the outrage a drunk driver gets here when similar crimes like rape/murders get the same posters saying "She had it coming".

It's pathetic.

He's a future Job Creator. What kind of Job Creation do you think he'll be doing behind bars? Thought it may sound harsh, the poor just aren't making that many jobs for the economy.

For all the things i've done in my life I end up getting treatment, they should have locked me up but I guess they are willing to work with those with higher IQ's and wealth because we end up paying more in taxes than the average person.

This kid needs to be executed, seriously. Cops execute innocent people all the time, yet murderers get away just because they are rich and have some made up disease? Complete bull crap.
