I am just curious if getting 16 GB of DDR3 (1600) would be that advantageous over 8 GB of DDR3 (1600) would be beneficial?

The motherboard is am going to be using is Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3

I have read that running 4X4 GB would result in the RAM downclocking to 1333 from 1600. Is that also true?

To be perfectly honest, going from 8 to 16 would probably not be beneficial. You wont' notice the increase.

That being said, i'm a hypocrite, since I have 16 GB lol. I figured, at $30, I wanted to fill out the memory slots on my mobo. :D

I rarely, if ever go above 4-6 GB of usage.

And no, running 4x4 should not downclock your memory. And even if it does, you won't notice hte difference if running sandy bridge.

If you need 16gb's of memory then I'd say just get a 8gb x2 kit. If you don't wanna pay the price for it....Then you don't actually need it anyways.

16gb's of memory doesn't offer any benefit over 8gb's of memory unless your using it.

You could run Neurona@home, on BOINC, the WUs take up 4GB of RAM on a 64-bit machine.
