going through the last couple days' mail and there's a letter from Social Services informing me that I qualify for $16 a month in food stamps. why would they go through all the bother of food stamps for that amount? Not that I'm complaining, I'll take it, but what a waste of bureaucratic resources. you know it's gotta cost more than that to process it.

wait, don't you have to apply for food stamps? So you applied and now you're complaining about the amount given to you? D:

Anyone on welfare costs more than they are usually worth.

$16 can buy a fuckload of beans and rice.

Do you really need it or not?

Actually no, I didn't. I just got approved for Social Security Disability and parts of it are administered through Social Services.

I'm not complaining about the amount, I'm complaining that there could be a more cost-effective way to administer it.

Can't eat beans and rice. I'm diabetic. But yeah, it buys a lot of eggs and cheap frozen veggies.

I'm sorry that your health has put you in the position of having to file for SSDI

BTW, for those who don't know SSDI is only for working people who have become disabled, in addition, you have to have worked for a fairly high number of quarters to be eligible. I'm quite sure OP would much rather have her freaking health back!

its probably what you qualify for after an amount is deducted based on your SSDI income + what you have earned YTD.

Unfortunately in south Florida as many as 1 in 2 cases may be fraudulent :(
