15GB maxtor 7200 w/ price match at OD for $83.49

Well, its that time again. Bestbuy is selling the maxtor for $99.99. OD has it for $129.99. So, $129.99-$99.99= $30.00 x 155% =$46.50. So your final price is $129.99-$46.50 =

$83.49 + tax

Not bad, the buy.com quantum may be better, but for a local purchase pretty good. I just did it here in houston, but as always your pricematching possibilities will vary.

Good deal, but 15GB doesn't go too far nowadays... Any deals on a larger HD? (other than the buy.com Quantum 30gb for $138)

I picked up 3 this morning, got there when the doors opened. MAN that Manager hated me. took the last 3 he had too. 🙂

I don't know if you guys are interested but I have drives for sale that are 27.2 GB Maxtor drives that are 7200 RPM, 2mb buffer and ata66 for sale. These are new and have never been used. Still in factory retail packaging. My price is $ 145.00 shipped.

Staples will price match and then use a $25 off $75 coupon + free shipping to bring it down to $74.99 + tax. Slightly better.

hey, uflwald, I don't know why you bought three of them for?!?! I don't see what's the big deal either, you just saved $16 of each of them, not to impressive!

Neither is your spelling, ssjgokou1.

To quote you....

"...not to impressive!"

How about, "...not too impressive!"

yes it is ata/66, but then again it is a maxtor, a company w/ a bad track record for crappy drives. My 20gb 7200 rpm drive, a maxtor, 6 months old just died, the needle dove into the platter making a wonderfully sounding clicking noise. Get yourself a descent quantum or WD.

It is interesting the luck people have with Hard Drives. I really like Maxtors and have had very good luck with them so far. On the other hand, I have had crappy luck with Western Digital. In fact just picked up this Maxtor to replace a WD that is on it's way back for replacement.....Not trying to start an argument, just weird how different peoples luck is.

Thanks for the deal Rabb. Though my lack of patience in not waiting for an RMA'd drive just cost me $89 😛

I've had good experiences with Maxtor also, bought several in the past few years with no problems. They are also very prompt with rebate payments. I've had nothing but bad luck with WD drives, I've had one die on me, got it RMA'd and had that drive die in less than a year. I sent that last drive in for replacement, it was supposed to be replaced within 3 weeks or so but I got no reponse after waiting over 5 weeks. Finally I had to complain on their message board until I got a response from a CSR who expedited my replacement, if I didn't know they had a message board I may still be waiting for my drive. Suffice it to say I will never buy another WD drive.

It all depends on the quality control at WD on the lots of hard drives that you buy. I used to be one of the biggest WD fans until a bad lot of their hdd nearly drove the store I work for out of business. All of them had to be returned. Now anything but WD for me.
