Stuff like pdfs you can't really tell for sure because what defines the type of something is the mime type passed back when you actually download the item. Although, the plugin could actually do an http HEAD request to get that info for you, that would be pretty cool

Anyways, for the most part you can guess by seeing the url in the status bar right? But having something tell you where a link will open would definitely be nice (like which frame or if it's a new window...). I'd check out such an extension so I guess this is just a bump
