Hey,

I was trying to flash my 6800 ultra cards bios which i have done in the past but i cant seem to get nvflash to work anymore no matter what switches i use ( -5 -6 -i -n etc) it kept giving me a ID Board mismatch or PCI Subsystem ID Mismatch. so i added the erase command....lol and it erased the eeprom but still gave the ID error when trying to flash, so damn! now i cant boot up anymore i have no display 🙁

I can get a PCI Vid card this tuesday, but i don't know the procedures for reflashing my card? can anyone fill me in on what to do and what i need? also will any pci vid card do?

Thnx !

Any PCI card should do.
Set the system to boot from the PCI display, with AGP card in as well.
Use the backup of your BIOS, which obviously you made, unless you really do suck 😛
Reflash the cards BIOS, in the same way as you tried before, but obviously without using the erase command 😛

Pretty good advice:thumbsup:..Just be sure to get an ATI PCI card to do the reflash. If you use an Nvidia card then you will nee to change the switch control (which card that it flashes) or you risk flashing the Nvidia card as well 🙁

I've always wondered how to flash a card on another bus. doesn't he have to specify the card he wants to flash? how do you know he's not going to flash the cheap ATI card with a 6800U bios?

For all intents and purposes he may have just been trying to update a manufacturer-distributed BIOS. *shrugs*

You're welcome... 🙂

You shouldn't be messing with your electrically erasable programmable read-only memory if you don't know how to fix it.

I got the PCI Card, i tried puting it in but i get no display...nothing comes up...do i have to set something up in the bios first? the PCI Card does work i tried it at work.

Did you set the right switch for the agp card when you tried >?

"0" is AGP

"1" is PCI

Ok i got that fixed, i had to set Initial Video: AGP/PCI.

Can someone please tell me how do i kno which card im flashing using nvflash? or thugrooks bios image, how can i confirm ill be flashing the correct card? btw the PCI card is an old S3 Trio 32/64.
