People here generally won't do your homework for you. :p

(For what it's worth, the green light is the only thing I vaguely remember anyway - I read the book like 4 years ago....)

I think the eyes on the billboard was supposed to represent God? It's been a while since I read the book. Just rent the movie with Robert Redford :D

The Great Gatsby has lots of symbols. For example, the green light at the end of that ho's dock represents suckyness. And the shirts that the rich bastard throws around in his closet represent boringness. The yard full of dust and ash next to the gas station represents how terrible the book is. The glasses on the billboard reprent how F. Scott Fitzgerald should haven never been allowed to write.

I just got done writing a few page long essay on this book. Mine was on the differences between the book and the movie and the effect those differences have on the viewer/reader.

Hmm.. the green light.

Well the green light is rather thin when it comes to symbolism. Basically Gatsby is chasing after that light (Daisy) and it represents everyone's constant search the American Dream. Basically Gatsby has everything but Daisy and it goes to show how money doesn't buy happiness. I don't know.. like I said the green light wasn't my thing.

I can give you my other paper if the teacher would accept it. It got an A for an AP English class.

(I actually thought the book was decent when I read it several years back, but your post made me laugh anyway)
