with the amount you wasted on that celeron rig, you could have gotten an athlon64

A 754 3400+ would devastate that rig. If you got AGP + some decent DDR, go this route ->

3400+ is awsome! 1 year old and still kickin. It's basicly a FX-51, faster in some cases.
