The one where they won't kidnap your family members and hold them hostage. I forget the name...

I've always wondered about that. I've never known anyone who's had a problem in Mexico... and I've never heard of anyone bribing a police officer. Wonder if it's just a myth...

I wouldn't got to TJ, unless you are into the whole clubs and getting messed up. Cancun is pretty good, but it depends when you go. If you go during spring break, then all you will see is drunk college kids. Acapulco is my fav though...

My parents went to Acapulco on their honeymoon. They said the main strip was nice, but if you go on the side streets, there's beggars.

Now, that was many, many years ago, and by looking at the pics, it doesn't look like some podunk down.

I've never been, but have heard mixed reviews of Cancun, Tijuana, etc. Can anyone suggest a fairly affordable vacation spot in Mexico that won't have too much "Girls Gone Wild" activity going on? We're all old (24-28) and boring now. :p

OMG ok you should check out resorts along the Mayan coastline. There are TONS to choose from, many of the 5-star variety. We're talking about a 1-2 hour (depending on how far south the resoirt is) drive south of Cancun. Went there in July 2003 on our honeymoon and although I've never seen other parts of Mexico, I can say that it was a great destination. SO much to do too. PM me if you would like some pics, we have quite a few.

We did some Mayan ruins tours, hiking through the jungle / forest, lots more. It is also a great diving destination. I'd definitley go back and compared to the Dominican it was so much cleaner IMHO. g/l

Playa De Carmen is a nice spot about 45 minutes from Cancun. Stay at the RIU Palace and had a great time. The Brazilian restaurant was incredible.

not too crazy, but has clubs to go out too, but has a filthy beach

I have heard good things about "lobster town" just south of rosarito, but havent been

supposed to have nicer beach and is like a $5 cab ride to rosarito where you can go out at night

PM me if u want more details.

cancun can be expensive, but its worth visiting at least once. it is very touristy, but some of the surrounding areas are not. also, cancun is very safe believe it or not.

Cancun can be whatever you want it to be. It's a nice hub for other activities: you can do the touristy things, the spring-break things (clubs and bars galore), historical stuff, beaches, Mayan ruins, water sports, deep-sea sports, ferries/boats to islands, go off in any direction to go to other towns. Plus, everyone speaks english; in fact, I was trying to be courteous by speaking in (god-awful pseudo-) Spanish, but they usually cut me off and told me they spoke English to make it easy...

I've heard Playa Del Carmen is the next hot-spot for people trying to get away from the commercial tourism/spring-break-itis that is Cancun (my travel agent keeps telling me to go...)

i went to cancun for spring break. We went on a year when MTV wasnt there...so wasnt as packed as we expected. which was a good thing. Id definitely recommend cancun. we stayed at hotel called Calinda Viva.

It has the best beach out of all the hotels IMO. we were walking along the beach and other hotels' beaches had some rocks...but Calinda Viva's beach had no rocks. The sand was really fine and the water was about knee deep for 200 feet out (where the seaweed started)....so you could take a beach chair into the water and lie down with your body submerged in the warm water and your head sticking out. also the water was really calm (almost like a pool) so you wouldnt be swayed or thrashed around by the waves.

also the clubs were kick ass in Cancun!! if you do go there, make sure to visit La Boom and Coco Bongo!! and Senor Frogs is a must!!!

plus, transportation is real easy. they have buses going back and forth all day long

id show you pics, but i lost all my pics when my HD crashed :(
