I just got the Audiosource 15" 200 Watt from Amazon for $160 shipped. Teeth shattering bass for cheap. It was a little boomy like the Sony at first but $2 in poly-fil fixed that in 5 minutes. The enclosure is huge but it's still not large enough for a 15" without the help of poly-fil. Car audio bassheads are fimiliar with this technique.

Not bad for an expensive subwoofer. Polyfill works wonders on tightening up boomy bass doesn't it?? You can buy better for more money but this may be what the doctored ordered for those who are on a budget 🙂

I agree with Technocrat. Bought this SW a couple weeks ago using the coupons mentioned above. Added some speaker insulation from RadioShack ($6) as discussed in audioreview.com, and now the SW kicks butt. If you doubt, just read the reviews in the above link. It really didn't sound very good out of the box, but with a fairly quick modification, the bass is pretty tight. Highly recommended.🙂
 
This is a great sub. I have had mine now for a year. I purchased mine at Costco B&M for approx. the same price. You can get the price down to $150 if you use the above mentioned 15 of 100 coupon, purchase a amazon $100 gift cert.(you get an additional $25 gift cert.) and a $50 gift cert.(you pay $40) from giftcertificates.com. This is a great sub for the price!

What?? $25 GC bonus doesn't work anymore. I was planning to get one during Thanksgiving. Someone please tell me it works, it's not even expired yet.
 
hmm what is poly-fill, does it improve the sound of the speaker alot? cuz i got a big sub, and it doesn't sound so great with certain music even thought it hits pretty hard...
 
insulation. it stops "boomy" bass. boomy bass is created when the area of the speaker is a tad too big, or the housing is too weak. also stops raddling in the trunk of cars =)

check out audioreview.com and look up the sub in this thread - they discuess what to do in more detail.

i wish i knew those $150 GC for $100 things worked....
 
my understanding of it is that poly fill slows down the sound waves and gives you an effectively larger box.
