Just got this email this morning - 15% off 'select' WD hard drives. Mostly 1-3TB Green and Black drives.

I thought this was a good deal because one of the more highly reviewed drives, the WD Green 2TB EARX is 109 - 15% = $93, Free shipping. Best deal on a reliable 2TB I've seen in quite some time.

For comparison, the Samsung 2TB that everyone loves (I have several) is $129 now and I haven't seen it on sale for awhile.

Coupon code does not work for Red drives.

Would have bought the 3TB version, but the number of DOA drives scared me off.

Would help if I put the code in, no?

I'm in on this. Got the WD 500GB Black. I wanted the 1TB Black, but too many DOA's showed up in the reviews.
Also picked up the passport 500GB. They've got another coupon that works on portable hard drives

Yes, my bad, I did not post all 4 coupon codes (one for portables, one for internal WD, one for NAS boxes, and one more I think).

You didn't like the WD black? The DOA reviews scared me off of the WD green 3TB drive, but the black drives have always been winners AFAIK. I have two in my HTPC and my workstation, and when I bought them, they were one of the highest rated drives at the time with very very few DOA reports. Plus, the whole 5 year warranty thing.

I've never tried the WD green drive because the Samsung got better reviews and was cheaper at the time (before the floods), but now its significantly cheaper than the samsung and got good reviews so I'm giving it a try. Wondering if I should be buying more at this price.

Thanks for the tip. In for two. I cannot believe my unraid server has filled up so quickly. If only my kids would handle BDs with the tender loving care they deserve.

I have these drives *WD Green 2TB EARX* in my non-raid server. I have no complaints. FYI...these take 1-2 seconds to wake when in standby mode (not used in awhile).

PS...I'm also happy with my *WD Black Drives*.

These prices are still meh. I remember a year-and-a-half ago the EcoGreen Spinpoint F4 2TB being at $80 frequently.

Kinda ticks me off that the 2TB drives seem more reliable than the 3TB ones. I'm looking to replace a 1.5TB I have now, and 2TB just isn't that big of an increase. Are there ANY 3TB drives that are reliable ??

I run primarily WD Blacks, so guess I will hafta pay the price premium and buy one of them.

Yes, that was the drive I mentioned earlier. Last one I bought was $79.99 from newegg in 2011.

It was hard to purchase another drive for more after so much time, but unfortunately, I've held off for long enough and my customers need more data storage, so I had to buy one. Better than having to buy during the bubble I suppose.

NP! My NAS boxes started filling up quickly when I started ripping spongebob and sesame street collections. The ability to play all the shows my son likes without the constant Hasbro commercials for cheap plastic crap.........amazing. Just amazing.

The WD Black 1TB seemed like it had a lot of DOA reviews on it. SO I went with a WD black 500 for like 76 bucks after discount. They seemed like they got better reviews.

And I remember the price mistake that put them at $60 when I bought my 4.

Hard drive prices will likely never be the same. :(

I have been running 2 Cav Blacks for over 4 years now without failure. I'm in need of more space and I'm not sure if the 2tib greens are worth it or wait until the end of Nov. ><
