Not trying to thread crap, just hoping you don't buy this yourself and get ripped off. There were other deals floating around for better brand name 15" LCDs a lot cheaper than this. If I remember correctly, a few of them were even below $200. Please read the forum and spend money wisely :)

(Disclaimer: Even if you spend it wisely, reading this forum for long periods of time can cause you to go broke either way!) haha

Happy posting!

Well, I guess that, "since you haven't been around for years", there is a curious phenomenon on the AT forums that
a person with a "first post" that points so obviously to a specific vendor/manufacturer could have a hidden agenda. That's all.
And, just because you defend it doesn't impress me.
I'm just wondering out loud if there could possibly be something hidden...as is my right.
This is not a thread crap, just a personal observation that is shared by many long-term adherents to these forums.

I would have to agree with free ride on this one. It's a decent deal but fry's has better deals and so do a lot of other places

1) It only has a one year warrenty - most have 3 years

2) The viewing angle is 120 degrees, I think that is lower than most and all of the vendors use a higher than actual number.

and dude ya find me a better deal wifout a rebate and im there

Unger, Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your post as I am currently looking for a 15 inch LCD. But the purpose of this forum is to help each other by posting whatever information we have reguarding the HOT DEAL.

IMO, $218 shipped for a 15" TFT w/ no rebates is a pretty decent deal. Anyway, I called WinBook to confirm and the deal's legit. The sales rep I spoke with, David Miller, claimed that the Beige model is $221, but he also told me that these special prices were posted on pricewatch.com. FYI, you're supposed to mention pricewatch to get this price. I just took a look at pricewatch.com, and both models (BLACK & BEIGE) are listed on there @ $218 SHIPPED FREE (see this link). The 1yr warranty is indeed a bit disappointing; however, any gold/platinum credit card should provide an additional year warranty (bringing it up to a 2 yr warranty).

Just my 2¢ worth.

P.S. If you want to verify this for yourself, WinBook's Sales # is 800-254-7806.

They may be around 10.000 years, it is still fishy if they have nowhere a physical adress posted.

That's simply unprofessional!

And on top of that they are being introduced by an "experienced newbie" getting very very detailed support (he took the time even to write down their phone number!) from an "experienced oldie".

And David Millers might claim what they want, it still won't help you if your monitor has dead pixels.

Their warranty section is a joke, like the FAQ with "Are WinBook notebook computers "Year 2000" compliant?" .
