(CNN) -- The headless bodies of 15 people were found dumped near a shopping center in the tourist city of Acapulco, Mexico, the Guerrero State Public Security office said in a statement Saturday.

The victims are all men between the ages of 25 and 30 years old. Police were led to the bodies by a group of burning vehicles, the security office said.
A 16th body was found in a nearby car. The victim was a 30-year-old man who was shot to death, the office said.

The bodies were not found in an area frequented by tourists, said a spokeswoman for the security office.

"It's a shopping center where locals go regularly, but it's not that far away from the tourist areas," she said. "They were found on a popular highway used to get to the tourist area."

The killings are believed to be drug related, she said.
According to authorities, more than 28,000 people have died in Mexico in drug-related violence since 2006.

Police and military forces have stepped up operations in the region in light of the grisly discoveries.

We need to secure and seal the border before this crap starts to spill over to our side. Second, Mexico needs to lift its ban on guns so the citizens can protect them selves and turn the balance of power away from the drug cartels and back to the people as well as the state of Mexico.

Too late friend. Read the article in my post. That's a year old and says that they have bases of operations from Alaska to Sheboygan, WI...

The money that fuels the violence comes from this side of the border. It will not stop until it is no longer so profitable.

I realize that in Texas, Arizona, and California; some of this has crossed to our side. But it has yet to completely infect our nation like it has in Mexico.

I believe thats why he suggested we seal the border. Both Americans and Mexicans need to be shot if they try to cross.

Sealing the border is the 1st step of many we need to be taking. It in of it's self wont solve all the problems alone.

Adding landmines, National Guard Snipers, Preadator Drones, a Korean type 38th parallel DMZ, and a Berlin style wall might be a good 1st measure. Maybe a few tanks would help too. And let some more water out of the Hoover dam and make the Rio Grande flow like a class 5 rapids with hungry alligators swimming in it's depths...

This is where the USA needs to invade, instead of killing innocent people in the Middle East who have nothing to do with violence here in the USA.

There's no oil in Mexico though. And without their drugs, there wouldn't be any reason to hit up the taxpayers for trillions of dollars to pay for our drug wars.

But Mexico hasn't been completely infected, there are plenty of areas down there that are as safe as anywhere in the US. You could possibly be killed anywhere in Mexico, but the same can be said for the US.

Apples to oranges at this point.
