The man or woman who briefly brushes against science and philosophy often vehemently protest that God does not exist and outcry the stupidity of religion. And the few who deepen in their understanding of either one, or both are inclined to believe the opposite.
Very well said.
Ah, well, I'll be laughing my ass off when you're burning in hell.

And if you're as dense as to believe that ANYTHING I've typed in this thread was serious, you need to upgrade or overclock your obvious lacking sense of humor or common sense.

In the same sense I've also read articles that have proven the missing link to be an African woman that did at one time stand completely upright but had died at an old age with a bad case or arthritus.. when it had been presumed and swore her remains proved a missing link until her remains were then compared to the skeleton stucture of an old woman born in the 20th century with chronic arthritus in her back..

Have you noticed that with all the skeletons we dig up, birds, fish, tigers, and animals of all kinds we can't seem to find even one skeletal structure that's any different from the one we walk around in today to prove any evolution of our own?

The argument that says we're ancestors or evolved from apes is impossible considering that apes are still alive and well on this earth.. if a specie evolves then that means the species change not sprout off into 2 new species.. one being the older less efficient specie and the other a new and improved version.

Blah, blah, blah.

Man, RLNKID, you could at least read the article. Thanks for proving it right though.

Yeah right - when was the last time an evolutionist came to your door inviting you to spend some time with the congregation in their lab?!
Well, Im not Christian, so those anti-christian shots wont work with me. ;)
I may not be seeing them coming to my door, but I do see them starting threads to prove their way of thinking. :)

What are you laughing at, chickenshit? Why did you avoid it? Because you're a evolutionist groupie gathering in a thread chock full of numbheaded "Me Too"s bashing anything they can to make themselves feel better, while ganging up on the 2-3 who disagree with them and either picking your posts apart or suddenly turning off any sort of common interpretation of posts or humor and twisting it into something serious and stabbing you in the back?

Go back to the mirror, Pimple Picker. We don't need another "debate" thread.

Ramsnake:

I'm trying to do the following:

1) Point out that not all Christians match the "Bible-thumping pure-creationist" strawman being used here to tear down all Christians,
2) Point out that believing in evolution (as the method to creation) is not absurd, invalidated, or argued against in that article, so the conclusions some reached here that "anyone who believes God created stuff = stupid head" is not a valid conclusion.

and

3) That I'm tired of people like you, who insult, mock and belittle others based on the sole fact that they have a religion. You are neither tolerant, open-minded, nor smarter than anyone whom you deem beneath yourself here.

On the contrary, most religion threads started here are started by non-christians wanting an answer to a specific religion question (which then turn into Christianity/religion bashing threads), or pure malicious religion-bashing threads like this one that start out that way and end up that way as well. I can't even remember the last thread that was started by a christian here...

To tell the truth, its why I hang out on AT less and less... I really wish we could all either discuss it civily (I'm tired of being called sh!t) or not touch the subject.

Optimus,

You are at a dangerous place. Not touching the subject is exactly what they want. Many of these guys fill the thread with useless post so that no decent discussion can continue. If someone does post something of substance, it is hidden by the shear noise generated by the other side.

Edit: remove over-generalized remarks

Sorry Pastor Don, I may be one of those. it doesn't matter, though, since...like I've said...nothing you say matters to anyone here. They'll believe what they WANT to believe, and no matter WHAT you say, they WILL NOT CHANGE. I have yet to see a "I see the light!" thread in the couple years I've been here, nor ever heard of one.

now did anyone say " all christians"

common sense explains evolution, whereas belief explains the God created life part.

nope im pretty tolerant of people who follow a religion....the moment a person says his/her religion gives the absolute truth regarding creation of humans or life, that is when im compelled to retort because i find such thought stupid

I am ROFL at RLNKID - he is either a comedic genius or a complete pea-brain.

I just have to say this these threads NEVER fail to amuse. It is impossible for the idiots on either side not to come out and start calling the "other side" idiots. The fact is that the people that think there are only two sides are 1. the people yelling at each other and 2. close minded idiots.

Let me say one sublimely pithy thing. The man that started all this playa hating, Charles Darwin, was devoutly religious to the day he died.

History has a long tradition of deeply religious scientists whose ideas are still respected and taught and built upon. Creationism and Evolution are NOT mutually exclusive ideas.

You seem to be convinced that we came to be by evolving. So, you only tolerate 'absolute truth' statements when it goes along with what you say?

Ah well. I still give up.

I find it funny and sad the number of you guys who post 'LOL' ROFL' 'THIS IS GREAT' in response to this graph :Text. You have nothing to say, so you jump on the bandwagon that you think is cool because someone else did it. What does that graph prove?

It proves that they teach evolution in college.

Wow.

That's just hilarious! I'm rolling on the floor!

I guess you got postcount++ and that's really all that matters.

The Scientific American article was not necessary. I told you all a long time abo that evolution is a fact. I mentioned also that the fact of evoultion has absolutly no relationship to and adds no weight to or subtracts from the question of whether there is a God. The fact that some week kneed Christians think their religion is proved false because their Book proves to be something other than the literal truth as they claim it to be literal is just nonsense. Likewise, those of you who yuck it up because you think that if evolution is true than Christianity is false are also whistling out your asses. God is at the core of our being. You find him through the heart. He is nowhere else to be found. His existance cannot be proved by the Bible; it cannot be disproved by science. Only Lovers know the truth.

Exactly - no one here WANTS to hear an intelligent rebuttal - they want to get thier kicks in, feel like big tough men, and leave.

Exclusively ive never defended or preached evolution theory because im not sure if it is the absolute truth , there are a few loose ends...if ever i did defend it , it was because i think the whole creation by god( as we know him) thing is totally wrong. My respect for the evolution theory( besides the fact that it appeals to my common sense) is based on it being an alternative to the creation by god theory which i despise fully. but one thing i know i cannot be convinced is the world and life was created by any of the ways described by christianity, islam, buddhism, hinduism, taoism and various other religions. We talk with reference to christianity here in this thread because most the of the guys are american and live in a nation predominently filled with christians ( practising and non-practising types). This has nothing to do with exclusively targeting christian beliefs instead it is about not believing what was preached a few thousand years back when civilization was not advanced.

Agreed.

Evolution or Natural Selection can be viewed as perhaps the strongest argument for an omnipotent divinity.

Exactly - you are throwing your already present dislike of christianity on the table. Fine - but where does the right to insult the Christians here come into play?

Hmm, well my take on all of it is this.

I remember a couple of years ago talking to a religious friend about this and he said, "you know how all the scientists talk about the big bang theory. Well, did you ever think it was too coicendtial that everything worked out so nicely? Somebody or something must have caused the big bang."

AND up until that point, I was comfortable and satisfied with the theory of evolution, big bang, etc, etc. I have to admit that his point sorta stumped me and forced me to think a little bit more.

BTW, hmmm, alien seed theory is possible, but the men in black suits, parked in a black crown victoria in front of my house, would have me say otherwise, lol.

"Evolution or Natural Selection can be viewed as perhaps the strongest argument for an omnipotent divinity."

Except when you consider the number of maladapted species, including humans (wisdom teeth, bad backs, etc).
