And no, it won't play most any game @ 800x600; sorry.

and why is that? I have this card and it seems to handle games like Empire Earth (which is 3d)

He's saying that it won't play every game. Not that it won't play any game.

The ti4200 is much better than any 9200. My ti4200 128MB with a 2500 barton has almost identicle or slightly + or - to the FPS of my 9600 AIW 128 MB with a 3.0 P4 on most games I compared. I recommended the ti4200 to many people because they were cheap and worked well. No one is complainng. Although I don't think you will find one for $17.50!

This will back me up.

No, the other way around actually (the Ti4200 absolutely pw3ns it).
However, I'm using it in an office system. Need it for dual displays more than for gaming. 😉

yeah anything under 9500 from the 9xxx line is garbage. But for 15$ hell, even a garbage gfx is worth that much. Be warned though, these things run too hot for passive cooling and if you are running a case with little airflow in it, you WILL get artifacts with one of the Tiny passive sinked 9000 cards.

this is a nice card; i've had it for a yr. passive cooling is fine - no overheating - even when used for nfsu and call of duty

<bristles at the slight> 🙂

well, that's not entirely true..the short lived 9100 was, actually, not a bad card - based on the 8500. Not that I currently have one, or anything..... 😉

Nothing wrong with that - not all of us want a discrete graphics solution to play games on. Personally, I couldn't find any other decent solution to get dual-displays. No, I did not want to consider using a Xabre (though I do have one).

i just got the FIC A92 RADEON 9200 64MB 8X AGP w/ DVI for $17.50. They sent me a $10 coupon to try their new site. Add on $5 pickup fee and CA tax, my final total came out to be $13.94. Pretty good.

thanks!

I have the same 2 cards except my 9600 is not an AIW and yes the performace is very similar between the 2 cards both are still very playable even with the latest games...

Agreed. Amazing how the TI4200 has held it's own all this time.

I've got a 9600XT that's seems only slightly better than my TI4200. This is running on stock drivers as well. 🙂

I upgraded from a 4200 128mb to a 9600 Pro, and its definetly slightly better, though not by much. I need to sell my Ti4200 anyway.. off to the FS/T forums.
