Let's take a closer look now what HardOCP and SETI.Germany are up to.

Edit:
14:00 UTC: Only 183 hours until we overtake Team China. If we ask nicely, would the organizers give a little extension?

Thanks Skillz, [H] put on a great show, as usual!

edit: I hope I'm not jumping the gun here, Stefan was probably planning to do this....but....the Sun has not yet risen, and I'm bored...

Some follow-up info, auto-translated from SG's official 2017 thread:
On 23.11.2017 at 0:00 UTC (= 1: 00 CET) the 13th Birthday Challenge ended at the World Community Grid. 95 teams have won 1,348,316,936 WCG points within a week.

For 2018, 9 more teams, but the points more than doubled:

If my math was done correctly, the TeAm's contribution was 3.56% of this total. And last year's 1348M total points were exceeded this year only 2d21h into the 7d event. Wow.

Stefan previously reported stats from the previous years, on page one of this thread.

13th challenge, 2017:
  • 95 teams produced 1,348 M points.
  • 873 M points were reached after 4d6h.
  • The TeAm was 8th with 73 M (5.4 %).
  • 35 TeAm mates contributed to this challenge.
12th challenge, 2016:
  • 83 teams produced 873 M points.
  • 756 M points were reached after 5d23h.
  • The TeAm was 15th with 12.7 M (1.5 %).
11th challenge, 2015:
  • 95 teams produced 756 M points.
  • 1d5h more would have been needed to exceed the previous year's total.
  • The TeAm was 25th with 6.6 M (0.9 %).
10th challenge, 2014:
  • 94 teams produced 885 M points.
  • 484 M points were reached after 5d11h.
  • The TeAm was 26th with 10.1 M (1.1 %).
9th challenge, 2013:
  • 76 teams produced 484 M points together.
  • The TeAm was 21st with 6.1 M (1.3 %).

It would be interesting to see those numbers on a chart. 2014 was a banner year then 2015 and 2016 flatlined, 2017 was an impressive jump, but 2018 took that two steps further. :)

According to free-dc's "Last 7 days" readings, 31 TeAm mates contributed to this challenge.

So, what's our target this year? Top 5 would be great.
Achieved! - If we consider only the regular teams, but not the 4 miner groups at ranks 1, 3, 4, and 10.

The 100 regular teams together made 1,625 M points, and we produced 6.75 % of this.

You guys just might pass us up before the end.
After your PG assistance, how could we do such a nasty thing? :-)

That's it. TAAT couldn't maintain the grandiose tempo of the final day until the very end, and stays behind us with a small but polite distance. Our 114.223.305 points are a new record for us in this challenge, though unfortunately mere 300k were missing towards [H] (...).* Perhaps their small bunker at the afternoon made the difference to counter our increased output of the last few hours, including the final small fireworks.

Congratulations to Team China, who were able to top their previous year's result by 50 %, and to XtremeSystems, who, after three years, succeeded to finish in front of Team China. Also congratulations to our immediate neighbors [H] and TAAT, who kept us in suspense until the end.

An observation about the two (pseudo-)teams directly behind us, Gruppo Italiano Boinc and Neumannium Labs:

These were to a large part made up by a Gridcoin miner and by Byteball miners, respectively. These couldn't change back to their original pseudo-teams fast enough, and did so at some point before the challenge ended. And because WCG computes the canonical challenge stats only once a day, GIB and NL lost almost their entire points of November 22.

Ha! Sounds like someone from TAAT was causing elevated blood pressures at SG the final day. :)
After having fought the hangover, someone came forward with sort of an apology in their forum.
Dear hosts of the WCG Birthday party,

thanks for the great event with a lot of fun and excitement!

And I hope you don't hold it against some of your guests that they were beginning to get fresh with you in the frenzy late at the party. ;-)

In a resemblance of Formula Boinc, SG have difficulties getting medals engraved in time ........ Screenshot_20181125_192028.png

The company manufacturing the medals unfortunately has delivery difficulties because of the Black Friday shopping. We will distribute them as soon as possible after delivery.
