14th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race: Final Stats.

@biodoc , with the race getting close, I see my ppd is more like 17.5 million ppd.

Everybody else .... Time to start folding ! A little over a week until it starts !

There is one thing which I hate about Folding@home: It lets the coils on the GPUs whine very loudly.

SETI@home in contrast has the coils quietly chirping like birds.

I worked in Bowling, on the machines for 45 years with crashing pins 8 hours a day.
All I hear is Eeeeeeeeeeeeee. What's coil whine 🙂

After the first 24 h of my heating evaluations at home, my initial estimation of just one triple-GPU computer heating the entire apartment (with very marginal support by central heating) and producing 3.5 M PPD doing so, looks about right.

I may require additional heating if it gets considerably colder (possible, but not all that likely), or if neighbors take off into winter vacations (December is too early for this).

Thanks biodoc. I didn't know there were different projects in F@H. Iam
guessing it's like different angle ranges in Seti, some workunits are harder then
others. I have a 14196 running now, about 75% done, @ 2.7M ppd, ia'm
guessing that's ok ? I was thinking of getting a 2070 super.

Here's a list of project #'s. If you click on the project number, you'll see more information regarding the science and goals.

Project 14196 is a cancer related project.

That must be an RTX2080Ti. I think there's a big jump in performance going from a 2080 to the 2080Ti on FAH.

I see no difference in specific project PPD for 2070 and 2070S cards with driver version 430.50. The projects with very low atom counts have lower PPD.

I know mark has a few of these cards, LUCKY 🙂
The ppd with these cards are really all over the place. You can
get 2.4M ppd and then get a bunch of 3M ppd. work so, I don't know.
