or you could just get a mac mini instead of trying to "pwn" it with large ugly cubes that dont even come with a lesser OS, let alone a great software package.

those cubes have existed for way too long. nothing special. the mini is a revolutionary design and is pretty damn sweet.

I was considering this case until I saw it in person at CUSA, it look like garbage IMO, and I thought it was nice online. It's very large for a cube case, larger than a shuttle by quite a bit it seemed to me (might be wrong though).

Who in their right mind would spend $97.50 on a case for a computer that's less than $500 in total?

Get a $25 case and put the extra money into a quality motherboard and more RAM.

ZV

the aria is sweet, comes with 8-in-one card reader, power supply, pci cooler

i have one in my kitchen

My Aria is noisy, but mostly because of the nvidia 6800. The PCI blower is very quiet.

It also has a 300W power supply and can handle any microATX mobo. Room for 3 HDDs + 1 optical

Second of all, this setup does not contain an OS. Mac mini comes with this software:

iLife ?05 (includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and GarageBand), AppleWorks, Quicken 2005 for Mac, Nanosaur 2, Marble Blast Gold and Apple Hardware Test

Mac OS X version 10.3 ?Panther,? includes Classic environment, Mail, iChat AV, Safari, Sherlock, Address Book, QuickTime, iSync, iCal

Third of all, the whole Mac series is completely user-friendly.

meh, "user-friendly" != "so dumbed-down you can't break anything and enough unnecessary visual distractions to hog half your RAM", IMHO.

Both OS X and WinXP seem to think otherwise, however :(

I'm pretty sure you could get it even cheaper if you played around with it. Anyone wanna make their own submissions?

Yeah, and I can make a gaming computer via newegg that costs less than a dell.

Your point? :D

You're no fun.

I have recently purchased 2 pieces of software (well, one I got for xmas). 90% of what I use is free.

I do generally pay for my free OS though.

hmm... Nanosaur 2 and Marble Blast Gold... I'm really missing out. All I have is Half-Life 2 and Doom 3. Damn. I should have built myself a Mac... Oh. Wait....

J/k...that itty bitty thing is cool, but I liked it better when it was called an iPod

Your missing the point here. Its not the "cheapest computer evar" but its a cheap mac. If all you care about it $$ then throw together a PIII 750 or some crap, cost you $100, thats more then enough to surf and little things like that. I have 3 or 4 unused systems like that sitting in the closet.

Forget it, its just easier to call you stupid.

LOL...hey it turns out that this Mac Mini sports only one DIMM module of PC2700. You can get a stick of 512MB pretty cheap these days. 1GB is another story.

I've always thought about getting a Mac too. But often times I wouldn't because of cost. Now with the Mac mini, no more speculating...just buying.

this case is probably more similar to the mac mini in aesthetics. Soldam Polo. However, the case alone is more than the mac mini.

This is the 3rd or 4th version of the Polo, the first one came out quite a few years ago and was even more simplistic looking than this one.
